Leggo my Eggo. No, seriously! There's a shortage on the familiar brand of frozen waffles, spurred by problems at Kellogg (K) bakeries in Atlanta and Rossville, Tennessee. The former plant saw flooding last month and had to halt production, while the Tennessee location needs extensive repairs, which has shut down several lines for the time being. There will be a shortage of the baked good through 2010, according to reports from the cereal giant. Other Eggo-branded products, such as syrup, pancakes, and other breakfast items, will be impacted as well.
Go stock up now, because the remaining inventory of Eggos will be rationed, the company says, "based on historical percentage of business." So far, reports of in-store shortages have come from a Kroger (KR) in Jackson Mississippi and a King Soopers location in Denver.
Hope you weren't planning an Eggo-based stuffing for your Thanksgiving meal.

My son is a huge fan of the cinnamon waffle they make and when I couldn't find them, I went online. What came up are reports of listeria found at the Atlanta plant with recalls on two products(of course the one I need!). Hasn't anyone else heard about this? I, like many others, stock up when they're on sale and take them out of the boxes so they'll fit in the freezer, so I couldn't even check the numbers and dates that were on the boxes I threw away. Maybe they should have to print those on the inside bag as well. How can we know for sure if it was flooding or listeria?

Just like the flu vaccine, a shortage was reported, and suddenly people who were not going to get one, wanted one. What a bunch of gullible idiots we are.

I am the inventer of frozen toast, which I call "PopToast" (tm). Just buy a bag of PopToast (tm), keep it in your freezer, and when you want fresh toast pop a couple of slices in your toaster and in minutes, Voila!
Watch for it at your favorite frozen toast retailer.
