Microsoft (MSFT) has been touting its "decision engine" Bing since this past summer, and it recently became the standard search engine underneath Yahoo!'s (YHOO) massive user database. Although Bing has been well-received and grew almost immediately after being released, Google (GOOG) has finally quashed some of the enthusiasm by increasing its market share for Internet search in November back above 70%.
Google's share rose to 71.6%, an increase of 1.4% from the prior month. While that may sound small, a single percent in Internet search market share can be hundreds of thousands more searches (or tens of millions). At the same time, both Microsoft's Bing and Yahoo! declined in November. All this according to web metric firm Hitwise.
So, the question will be asked again: is Google's lead insurmountable? It was there first (in all reality) with relevant searches and unobtrusive advertising, and no matter how good Bing is or may grow to be, it's almost an impossible task to unseat Google as the world's largest search provider. Recent releases of Google products like Google Goggles and Real-Time Search will only help Google continue cementing its lead.
And, its Android mobile platform is increasing by leaps and bounds -- all of which is centered around use of almost all Google's products (with search at the center). Microsoft and Yahoo! are not matching that scope yet -- and may never get close. Google has a sense or urgency in everything it does. The other two competitors? Not so much.

How about this, Microsoft makes crap(Vista) then charges you to fix the crap (Windows 7) which still doesn't work(31% have trouble loading 7) Google Chrome had problems, but they get fixed quickly by Google and Google offers a lot of value added applets(Microsquash had the worlds worst media player and a calculator that doesn't let you see what you put in when adding) Finally, a company to challenge the monopoly Google. (I didn't buy Window 7, fool me once(Windows 95), etc.
