Those who own an Apple (AAPL) iPhone be prepared to have your head explode. Highly regarded think-tank consultant Strand Consult has just released a report that may send shock waves through the iPeople. Apple iPhone users are a tad delusional and many even lie to protect their iPhones.
Strand's report went as far as comparing those who protect their iPhones at all costs as those who may be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. That comparison alone is sure to spark debates for a while, but the question is this: Do you fabricate arguments to protect the "quality of life" your iPhone has provided you? Be honest, now.
Apple's marketing and design (and cultish attitude among consumers) perhaps brings comparisons of David Koresh to mind. No, don't shoot the messenger before reading the report. Maybe this is what Steve Jobs had in mind all along: ensure the iFolks that, no matter what follies the iPhone has, they protect it as their own child. Of course, while happily browsing the web and playing games (oh, and listening to music).
Do you believe what Strand Consult concluded here? No matter your perspective, Apple has either brainwashed millions of consumers into thinking they cannot function without their handheld device or the product is simply that damn good, period. What's your take? Would you defend your iPhone in court?

Yes I guess that is possible. But I think the flipside to this is the idea that iPhone users (on the average) enjoy their phones so much that they are willing to put up with its inevitable weaknesses. By inevitable I mean that every product will have its good and bad points.
In other words, I don't think the Jobs RDF actually projects through AT&T wireless signals and infects iPhone users' brains.

Apple are producing something that consumers want. Perhaps Strand Consult should be analyzing what that something is and why other manufacturers still don't get it. Before the iPhone came out people were laughing at the idea of Apple getting into this arena, and after it was launched they laughed at its 'deficiencies', the things THEY thought should be on a phone. Most of these people have thankfully disappeared into the woodwork, but not all apparently. Talking of David Koresh and the Stockholm Syndrome, do these people realize how absurd they sound.
'There are indeed many similarities between the Stockholm Syndrome' - between people in great danger in a kidnap situation and people buying a phone - yeah, right. I'm surprised they haven't made a comparison of Steve Jobs and Hitler.

Strand is a well-known shill for Nokia. Every six months he comes out with something like this - just Google the company.

Typical -- Apple zealots with a nitpick who go off and have to have their personal attacks deleted or a "chase all the way to $200! I am king of the profit world!" mentality are the only comments to this piece. Is Strand biased here? Have solid proof or just conjecture? Are Apple iPhone users really this odd? Is this behavior even odd, or just the result of a superior product and user experience? Let the comments reflect the subject matter please -- not useless drivel that adds NOTHING to the conversation. Thanks. Brian.
