Wall Streeters Don't Have to Drive -- They Can Fly

The summer season is almost upon us. If you have ever lived in or near New York City, you know that traffic to New Jersey or the Hamptons is all but impossible. Some commute 8 to 10 hours a day to and from work.

Those who have the big bucks fly. For $200, Liberty Helicopters can fly you from 30th street Pier 6 to Port Mammouth, New Jersey. Similar flights go to Long Island.

We have a special summer culture that takes hold about Memorial Day. Wall Streeters rent houses in the Hamptons until about Labor Day. They leave the families behind and travel into Manhattan to work. Often they stay in Manhattan until Friday evening.

With bank bonuses climbing (14% from 2008), Wall Streeters have the extra cash to fly instead of drive. Small groups are even renting an entire helicopter. Business is picking up. Liberty has hired six new pilots. Volume is expected to jump by 15% this summer.

Such is the way of Wall Street. If you have the cash you can always go first class.
