I've been working at RadioShack for about a month and a half now. I really love my job because unlike BestBuy or most retail stores, I get SPIFF and commission along with my hourly rate. I'm just wondering what are the next levels of advancement. So far I know assistant manager makes about 2 bucks more in the hourly rate field. My assistant manager just became MANAGER and she is now getting 1100-1200 her bonuses. If a manager at RadioShack has been there for lets say...5 years...do they get more pay?

If anyone can help, that'll be great.

I'm repairing a monitor, and I'm not willing to spend a lot of money on a good one. I was told that a cheap RadioShack one would have a low temperature at the tip which would mean I'd have to hold it on the part for so long that it would fry the part. But:
Wouldn't a quick burst of high heat be more likely to blow the part?
And wouldn't it help if I used a heat clip between the soldered portion and the component?
Are there any tricks I could use to do better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I doubt RadioShack is going anywhere. In Washington state they launched TheShack tech support team. It's an answer to BestBuy and the "Geek Squad". I bought an Evo from RS and decided to call in to the support line and quiz them as I've been in mobile tech. for 5 years - here's what happened:
1. They answered in 20 seconds (straight to a live tech.)
2. They knew EVERYTHING about the Evo
3. There's no charge.

These guys make the Geek Squad look like idiots lol

Wav! it's a great information.but still it is not completed.Radio Shack used to be a great store. But like Circuit City, they hired some real bozos that started their downward spiral. I once had a RS store manager tell me "You don't know what the heck you're doing." As it turned out, I did and she didn't. I didn't go back to Radio Shack again!!!
