With those treats in mind here are some stocks that may give investors sweet dreams -- and hopefully not nightmares.<br /><br />As is well known, candy is all the rage at Halloween, and among the largest candy stocks are <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/hershey-company-the/hsy/nys">Hershey Co.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/hershey-company-the/hsy/nys">HSY</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cadbury-plc/cby/nys">Cadbury PLC</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cadbury-plc/cby/nys">CBY</a>). Last week, Hershey reported third-quarter earnings rose 30% despite weaker volumes affected by higher prices for its sweets. Last year's numbers also included special charges. Still the company said it expects full-year earnings to be <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703816204574489070845361480.html?mod=googlenews_wsj">ahead of Wall Street forecasts</a>. In 2010, the Pennsylvania company said it expects earnings excluding items to rise 6% to 8%. The stock has a forward-looking price-to-earnings ratio of 16 and a current dividend yield of 3.1%.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/30/halloween-stocks-offer-investors-a-chance-at-financial-treats/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Halloween stocks offer investors a chance at financial treats</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/30/halloween-stocks-offer-investors-a-chance-at-financial-treats/">Halloween stocks offer investors a chance at financial treats</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 30 Oct 2009 14:40:00 EST. In doing so, IBM is is among the first U.S. companies to cover primary care at 100%, the Armonk, N.Y.-based computing giant said Thursday.<br /><br />The move means employees will not be subject to co-pays or deductibles for in-network primary care with their internist, general or family practitioner, pediatrician or primary osteopath. But one respected image remains -- perhaps unsurprisingly -- on top: Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO at <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/berkshire-hathaway-inc-cl-a/brk.a/nys">Berkshire Hathaway Inc.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/berkshire-hathaway-inc-cl-a/brk.a/nys">BRK.A</a>).</p>
<p>That's according to a recent quarterly poll of investors, traders, and analysts who subscribe to Bloomberg terminals, those somewhat cryptic news and data computers that are ubiquitous on Wall Street. Buffett, who received favorable nods from 25% of those participating in the poll, walked away with a <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&amp;sid=aXAO557NzJdg">plurality of the vote</a>, Bloomberg News reported.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/29/buffetts-star-shines-brightest-among-worlds-financial-gurus-p/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Buffett's star shines brightest among world's financial gurus, poll shows</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/29/buffetts-star-shines-brightest-among-worlds-financial-gurus-p/">Buffett's star shines brightest among world's financial gurus, poll shows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Oct 2009 12:50:00 EST. After watching stocks lose ground early in the week, they roared back Thursday, riding high on a bevy of upbeat earnings reports. <p>Trading volume hit a peak just before 10 a.m. ET when 95,000 shares traded hands. But a new survey showing a<a href="http://voices.washingtonpost.com/economy-watch/2009/08/consumer_confidence_slips_back.html?hpid=topnews"> decline in consumer confidence</a> helped push trading volume lower and the stock dipped into negative territory before resuming positive gains.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/28/toll-brothers-shares-rise-as-overall-market-slips/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toll Brothers shares rise as overall market slips</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/28/toll-brothers-shares-rise-as-overall-market-slips/">Toll Brothers shares rise as overall market slips</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 28 Aug 2009 16:40:00 EST. With stock indexes at the highest points all year, any gains may be modest on Wall Street today.<br /><br />Stocks rose slightly yesterday on news that oil inventories last week were higher than anticipated, leading to speculation that an economic recovery, if on its way, may be slow and anemic.<br /><br />Stocks to watch include luxury home-builder <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/toll-brothers-inc/tol/nys">Toll Brothers</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/toll-brothers-inc/tol/nys">TOL</a>), which reported Thursday morning a much larger quarterly loss of $472.3 million, or $2.93 a share, compared to a loss of $29.3 million, or 18 cents a share, a year ago. Included in the loss was a $439.4 million non-cash deferred tax allowance and write-downs totaling $115 million in the quarter. Last year's results included write-downs of $139.4 million. New home buyers wait-and-see attitudes took a toll on the company's revenues, which fell 42% to $461.3 million. But the company said it sees signs of stabilization in the housing market. The company is scheduled to discuss its fiscal third-quarter results today in a conference call at 2 p.m. ET.<br /><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/27/before-the-bell-investor-caution-reigns/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Before the bell: Investor caution reigns</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/27/before-the-bell-investor-caution-reigns/">Before the bell: Investor caution reigns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 07:30:00 EST. After hasty consultations with the FAA and Chicago-based Boeing, Southwest decided to ground the planes.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/26/southwest-airlines-shares-descend-on-maintenance-worries/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Southwest Airlines shares descend on maintenance worries</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/26/southwest-airlines-shares-descend-on-maintenance-worries/">Southwest Airlines shares descend on maintenance worries</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 26 Aug 2009 16:40:00 EST.
