In the online advertising market, local marketing is one of the upcoming trends and has attracted players like <a href="http://finapps.forbes.com/finapps/jsp/finance/compinfo/CIAtAGlance.jsp?tkr=goog&amp;tab=searchtabquotesdark">Google</a>, <a href="http://finapps.forbes.com/finapps/jsp/finance/compinfo/CIAtAGlance.jsp?tkr=aol&amp;tab=searchtabquotesdark" target="_blank">AOL</a> and <a href="http://finapps.forbes.com/finapps/jsp/finance/compinfo/CIAtAGlance.jsp?tkr=fbook&amp;tab=searchtabquotesdark">Facebook</a> in addition to Yahoo. Here we will analyze the growth prospects of this trend and how it could benefit Yahoo in particular. We currently maintain <a href="https://www.trefis.com/company?hm=YHOO.trefis">$17.88 price estimate for Yahoo stock</a>, which is about 6% above market price.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/09/local-marketing-growth-trend-to-watch-out-for-at-yahoo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Local Marketing: Growth Trend to Watch Out for at Yahoo!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/09/local-marketing-growth-trend-to-watch-out-for-at-yahoo/">Local Marketing: Growth Trend to Watch Out for at Yahoo!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 09 Apr 2011 08:00:00 EST. His empire spans 18 countries and has 200 million subscribers.<br />
<br />
Let's look at America Movil's spectacular growth. The company's markets are primarily in Latin America. American Movil controls 74% of wireless service in Mexico under its Telcel brand, which has 60 million subscribers. Brazil is second with 45 million subscribers. It also is the largest provider in the Caribbean with four million users.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/05/america-movil-to-expand-growth-with-pre-paid-data-plans/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>America Movil to Expand Growth with Pre-Paid Data Plans</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/05/america-movil-to-expand-growth-with-pre-paid-data-plans/">America Movil to Expand Growth with Pre-Paid Data Plans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 17:00:00 EST. Just the term dot-com captured the imagination of investors. Prices of some dot-com IPOs doubled in a matter of hours.<br />
<br />
With the current financial crisis, the market for IPOs has slowed down to a trickle. But we still have investing ideas that capture our imagination. Just mention the word term 'cloud' these days, and you are off and running.<br />
<br />
Such is the case with cloud computing ServiceSource (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/servicesource-international-inc/srev/nas">SREV</a>), reported in <a href="http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/567231/201103251751/Cloud-Firm-Rewarded-As-Its-IPO-Pops-22.htm">Investors.com</a> The issue was for 1.9 million shares, to be priced at $10 per share.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/why-did-servicesources-ipo-jump-22/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Why Did ServiceSource's IPO Jump 22%?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/why-did-servicesources-ipo-jump-22/">Why Did ServiceSource's IPO Jump 22%?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 01 Apr 2011 15:50:00 EST. This is a game changer. In a world of instant information, streaming videos are replacing DVDs. Last year, DVD sales fell by 43% to $7.8 billion from $13.7 billion in 2006, <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703386704576186913491751144.html?KEYWORDS=facebook"><em>The Wall Street Journal</em></a> reported.</p>
<p>There is another accompanying trend that reinforces streaming videos. Customers are spending more time online. Add the multiplier of time spent on social networks and it's streaming video hands down.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/09/facebook-invades-netflix-and-redboxs-turf/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Facebook Invades Netflix and RedBox's Turf</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/09/facebook-invades-netflix-and-redboxs-turf/">Facebook Invades Netflix and RedBox's Turf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 09 Mar 2011 10:40:00 EST. Let's take the explosion of mobile data. Smartphones and iPhones are creating a huge traffic jam in wireless communication. At present we are using fixed cell towers to transmit data from towers to the Internet. <br />
<br />
The need to handle the mobile explosion is putting extreme pressure on present tower operators to upgrade their equipment or build new towers. This is a cumbersome, time consuming process.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/alcatel-lucent-launches-tiny-new-cell-phone-antenna-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Alcatel-Lucent Launches Tiny New Cell Phone Antenna System</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/alcatel-lucent-launches-tiny-new-cell-phone-antenna-system/">Alcatel-Lucent Launches Tiny New Cell Phone Antenna System</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Mar 2011 15:30:00 EST. <br />
The company is on the move again -- and Google's Android is leading the way. Google sees the next leg of the Internet revolution in the smart phone, tablet and e-reader market -- and there's already a fierce battle raging. Google's Android is making inroads into the iPhone turf. How deep is the penetration? Singapore research firm Canalys said, "<a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-02-14/google-s-android-is-the-next-windows-volpi-says.html">Google shipped twice as many devices as Apple's iPhone.</a> in the fourth quarter," capturing 33% of shipments, up from 8.7% a year ago.<br />

A little company called Nvidia's (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/nvidia-corporation/nvda/nas" class="inlinked">NVDA</a>) design won so far with its Tegra 2. Its shares are up almost 50% since December. Texas Instruments (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/texas-instruments-incorporated/txn/nys" class="inlinked">TXN</a>) is also a player in tablet chip market with its OMAP5 processor.<br />

But how much could its shares be worth in an initial public offering? The numbers are all over the place. From Bloomberg's estimate late last year that it was worth $25 billion to<em> Fortune</em>'s estimate last August of $50 billion. Now, there is another report from a financial research firm, Trefis, that pegs the value at $45 billion today -- but potentially as much as $125 billion, if a few things go right.</p>
<p>One of the things that could go right, is coming up a with a new way to generate revenue -- and Facebook says it has a plan. It's called "sponsored stories." The company plans to pull content out of members' status updates for use in advertisements that will appear in their friends' Facebook pages.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/02/facebook-sponsored-stories/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Facebook's 'Sponsored Stories' Turns Your Updates into Ads</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/02/facebook-sponsored-stories/">Facebook's 'Sponsored Stories' Turns Your Updates into Ads</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 02 Feb 2011 14:00:00 EST. Yesterday, the ADSs closed up almost 2% to $108.63, not too far from the 52-week high of $115.04; the price movement was achieved on high volume. The 52-week low is $40.67, so those who bought in near the latter price are pretty happy campers. <br />
<p>
That 2% rise, while quite respectable, wasn't the big story; rather, it was what happened during the after-hours session. The ADSs went up 7.7% to $116.99. Considering that we're in another earnings season, I don't think it's a particular challenge for anyone to guess what propelled the company to such lofty heights. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/01/baidu-q4-earnings-time-to-buy-or-sell/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Baidu Q4 Earnings: Time to Buy or Sell?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/01/baidu-q4-earnings-time-to-buy-or-sell/">Baidu Q4 Earnings: Time to Buy or Sell?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 01 Feb 2011 09:00:00 EST. As I'm sure everyone has heard by now, <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/investing/larry-page-to-become-google-ceo/19809159/">Larry Page will be taking over</a> CEO duties from Eric Schmidt.</p>
<p>But let's have a look at the numbers anyway. On a <a href="http://investor.google.com/earnings/2010/Q4_google_earnings.html">reported basis, </a>the search-engine business made $7.81 a share, good for a 27% year-over-year growth rate. On an adjusted basis, per-share profit came out to $8.75, comfortably ahead of the $8.06 projected by Wall Street. The top line also put in a strong showing.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/21/google-earnings-is-it-a-buy-or-sell-following-quarterly-report/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Google Earnings: Is It a Buy or Sell Following Quarterly Report?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/21/google-earnings-is-it-a-buy-or-sell-following-quarterly-report/">Google Earnings: Is It a Buy or Sell Following Quarterly Report?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 21 Jan 2011 10:00:00 EST.
