No problem. Just download an app. Cablevision (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/cablevision-sys-co-cl-a-w-i/cvc*/nys" class="inlinked">CVC</a>) claims that its customers can watch 300 channels at home, according to <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/02/us-cablevision-ipad-idUSTRE7312IR20110402">Reuters</a>.</p>
<p>The interesting feature of this program is that you don't need the Internet. Cablevision uses a digital code to deliver content to an Apple (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked">AAPL</a>) iPad. The app allows you to search channels by genre and record programs.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/04/cablevision-app-lets-you-watch-tv-on-your-ipad/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cablevision App Lets You Watch TV on Your iPad</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/04/cablevision-app-lets-you-watch-tv-on-your-ipad/">Cablevision App Lets You Watch TV on Your iPad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 04 Apr 2011 11:30:00 EST. Just the term dot-com captured the imagination of investors. Prices of some dot-com IPOs doubled in a matter of hours.<br />
<br />
With the current financial crisis, the market for IPOs has slowed down to a trickle. But we still have investing ideas that capture our imagination. Just mention the word term 'cloud' these days, and you are off and running.<br />
<br />
Such is the case with cloud computing ServiceSource (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/servicesource-international-inc/srev/nas">SREV</a>), reported in <a href="http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/567231/201103251751/Cloud-Firm-Rewarded-As-Its-IPO-Pops-22.htm">Investors.com</a> The issue was for 1.9 million shares, to be priced at $10 per share.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/why-did-servicesources-ipo-jump-22/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Why Did ServiceSource's IPO Jump 22%?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/why-did-servicesources-ipo-jump-22/">Why Did ServiceSource's IPO Jump 22%?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 01 Apr 2011 15:50:00 EST. According to Forrester Research, consumers spent $1 billion on e-books in 2010. That number is expected to triple by 2015. In the US there were about 10 million e-readers in circulation in 2010, triple that of 2009.</p>
<p>The two leading players in the e-reader market are Amazon (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/amazon-com-inc/amzn/nas">AMZN</a>) with its Kindle and Barnes and Noble's (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/barnes-and-noble-inc/bks/nys">BKS</a>) Nook. With these readers a single reader can use the reader or a friend can be added as long as they know each other's email, according to the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703726904576192923709743108.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_sections_tech"><em>Wall Street Journal</em></a>.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/11/e-book-lending-the-next-new-thing/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>e-Book Lending -- the Next New Thing</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/11/e-book-lending-the-next-new-thing/">e-Book Lending -- the Next New Thing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 11 Mar 2011 14:00:00 EST. Why write about this particular drug? The drug bears discussion because it is the first one in 50 years to treat a disease called Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system turns against part of the body it is designated to protect. It causes debilitating joint pain, organ damage and skin rashes. Up to now the key medication used to treat Lupus are steroids. </p>
<p>A team of researchers from Human Genome Sciences (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/human-genome-sciences-incorporat/hgsi/nas">HGSI</a>) headed by William Haseltine started looking at genes and their special functions. The problem was that there was no gene known to cause Lupus. So they started thinking outside the box. Instead of finding the gene first and then its function, they looked for the function then found the gene called BLyS that is elevated in Lupus. The <a href="http://www.pharmaceuticalonline.com/article.mvc/Human-Genome-Sciences-and-GlaxoSmithKline-Ann-0002">new drug is called </a><a href="http://www.pharmaceuticalonline.com/article.mvc/Human-Genome-Sciences-and-GlaxoSmithKline-Ann-0002">Benlysta</a>.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/10/new-treatment-for-lupus/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pioneer Gene Research Yields New Treatment for Lupus</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/10/new-treatment-for-lupus/">Pioneer Gene Research Yields New Treatment for Lupus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 10 Mar 2011 12:20:00 EST. Kraft is the world's second largest food and beverage company after competitor Nestl&eacute;. It also competes with PepsiCo (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/pepsico-inc/pep/nys" class="inlinked">PEP</a>), General Mills (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/general-mills-inc/gis/nys" class="inlinked">GIS</a>) and Kellogg (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/kellogg-company/k/nys">K</a>).</p>
<p>Kraft manufactures both food and beverages, with beverages accounting for nearly 14% of our <a href="https://www.trefis.com/company?hm=KFT.trefis">$32.58 price estimate for Kraft's stock</a>, which reflects a small premium to market price. Chocolate, candy and gum constitute around 31% of our price estimate, with snacks adding 19% and grocery products representing another 14%.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/08/kraft-launches-mio-flavored-water/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Coffee Prices Heat Up; Kraft Can Cool the Fire with Flavored Water</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/08/kraft-launches-mio-flavored-water/">Coffee Prices Heat Up; Kraft Can Cool the Fire with Flavored Water</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 08 Mar 2011 12:00:00 EST. It reported a 46% drop in profits in its recent quarter, as reported in <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/04/nintendo-3ds-idUSN0317060820110304">Reuters</a>. <p>Nintendo is launching the first handheld 3D gaming system without glasses later this month. Nintendo of America's president, Reggie Fils-Aime, expects that the 3DS will sell even faster than its original DS device, which sold 150 million units to date.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/07/nintendo-3ds/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo to Launch First 3D-Gaming System Without Glasses</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/07/nintendo-3ds/">Nintendo to Launch First 3D-Gaming System Without Glasses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 07 Mar 2011 09:30:00 EST. If not, here are some points to consider. GPS systems give you the shortest distance to your destination. With gas nearing $4.00 per gallon, a GPS could save you priceless gas and save you money.</p>
<p>Yet, using a GPS does not always ensure a gas savings. Take for example a traffic jam. While your GPS is giving you the shortest route, you could waste a lot of gas sitting for hours in tied up traffic.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/04/fords-eco-route-gps-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford's New GPS System Is a Super Gas Saver</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/04/fords-eco-route-gps-system/">Ford's New GPS System Is a Super Gas Saver</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 04 Mar 2011 11:20:00 EST. <p>Qualcomm wants to drive demand for its powerful processors that can handle high speed computing tasks for mobile devices. To do that, it intends to promote processor intensive augmented reality applications. Augmented reality aims to aid consumers with what they see. By pointing the phone's camera to objects and scanning them, the application can then identify them in the database, and find relevant material.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/04/qualcomm-to-launch-augmented-reality-software-applications/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Qualcomm to Launch 'Augmented Reality' Software Applications</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/04/qualcomm-to-launch-augmented-reality-software-applications/">Qualcomm to Launch 'Augmented Reality' Software Applications</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 04 Mar 2011 10:40:00 EST. Let's take the explosion of mobile data. Smartphones and iPhones are creating a huge traffic jam in wireless communication. At present we are using fixed cell towers to transmit data from towers to the Internet. <br />
<br />
The need to handle the mobile explosion is putting extreme pressure on present tower operators to upgrade their equipment or build new towers. This is a cumbersome, time consuming process.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/alcatel-lucent-launches-tiny-new-cell-phone-antenna-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Alcatel-Lucent Launches Tiny New Cell Phone Antenna System</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/alcatel-lucent-launches-tiny-new-cell-phone-antenna-system/">Alcatel-Lucent Launches Tiny New Cell Phone Antenna System</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Mar 2011 15:30:00 EST. You've heard that the star is ill and may not be in this performance. You look at the playbill to see who will fill in. And now the show begins.<br />
<br />
No, it's not Broadway, it's Apple's (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked" injectedlink="">AAPL</a>) new <a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.aolnews.com/tag/ipad/">iPad</a>. The same anticipation was there. Participants were wondering if <a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.aolnews.com/tag/steve+jobs/">Steve Jobs</a> will appear on stage or whether Tim Cook, the man who runs the company in Jobs's absence, will be in this performance. And voila! On Wednesday, the star of the show, Steve Jobs appeared with resounding applause to introduce the new iPad.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/apple-unveils-ipad-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Apple Unveils iPad 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/apple-unveils-ipad-2/">Apple Unveils iPad 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Mar 2011 08:00:00 EST. Take McDonalds (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/mcdonald-s-corporation/mcd/nys" class="inlinked">MCD</a>) and Burger King (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/burger-king-holdings-inc/bkc/nys" class="inlinked">BKC</a>) for example. Burger King competes directly with McDonalds.</p>
<p>The same is true in the exchange-traded fund (ETF) craze. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/verizon-communications-inc/vz/nys" class="inlinked">VZ</a>), as customers could finally walk into a Verizon store and pick up an iPhone. Some analysts had expected to see some long lines, but they did not materialize, creating the impression that the launch was less than successful, <a href="http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2380133,00.asp">but looks can be deceiving</a>.</p>
<p>It is easy to understand where the confusion comes from. In the past, whenever Apple released a new iPhone we saw long lines and often not even supply to cover the launch date demand, resulting in long waits for eager iPhone fanatics to get their hands on the new smartphone.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/11/small-lines-for-verizons-iphone-launch-could-be-deceiving/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Small Lines for Verizon's iPhone Launch Could Be Deceiving</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/11/small-lines-for-verizons-iphone-launch-could-be-deceiving/">Small Lines for Verizon's iPhone Launch Could Be Deceiving</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 11 Feb 2011 16:30:00 EST. A little company called Nvidia's (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/nvidia-corporation/nvda/nas" class="inlinked">NVDA</a>) design won so far with its Tegra 2. Its shares are up almost 50% since December. Texas Instruments (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/texas-instruments-incorporated/txn/nys" class="inlinked">TXN</a>) is also a player in tablet chip market with its OMAP5 processor.<br />

Now, Qualcomm <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/qualcomm-incorporated/qcom/nas" class="inlinked">QCOM</a>) is joining the fray with its new <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/10/us-qualcomm-idUSTRE7198L220110210">APQ 8060 dual core Snapdragon processor</a>. Now, The <a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/0a835462-28c0-11e0-aa18-00144feab49a.html#axzz1C3boeTWv"><em>Financial Times</em></a> reports that Apple (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas">AAPL</a>) is planning to expand the iPhone to handle mobile commerce, giving the company access to the multibillion-dollar transaction industry.<br />
<br />
You are probably wondering what and how this will be done. The iPhone 5, due out this year, likely will incorporate technology called Near Field Communication (NFC). NFC incorporates financial account information and ties the data to specific devices.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/05/apple-wave-and-pay-for-iphone-5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Apple Expected to Include 'Wave &amp; Pay' with iPhone 5</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/05/apple-wave-and-pay-for-iphone-5/">Apple Expected to Include 'Wave &amp; Pay' with iPhone 5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 05 Feb 2011 13:40:00 EST. But how much could its shares be worth in an initial public offering? The numbers are all over the place. From Bloomberg's estimate late last year that it was worth $25 billion to<em> Fortune</em>'s estimate last August of $50 billion. Now, there is another report from a financial research firm, Trefis, that pegs the value at $45 billion today -- but potentially as much as $125 billion, if a few things go right.</p>
<p>One of the things that could go right, is coming up a with a new way to generate revenue -- and Facebook says it has a plan. It's called "sponsored stories." The company plans to pull content out of members' status updates for use in advertisements that will appear in their friends' Facebook pages.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/02/facebook-sponsored-stories/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Facebook's 'Sponsored Stories' Turns Your Updates into Ads</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/02/facebook-sponsored-stories/">Facebook's 'Sponsored Stories' Turns Your Updates into Ads</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 02 Feb 2011 14:00:00 EST.
