In one of its biggest SNAFUs in years, Wal-Mart became embroiled with its former marketing director, Julie Roehm, in a fierce court battle over who, exactly, was inappropriate. Julie was accused of having an affair with a subordinate, but we think that is beside the point; Julie was shaking things up at Wal-Mart, and neither CEO Lee Scott, nor anyone else in the upper management, could handle Julie's edgy ways. Wal-Mart is stuck in its conservative past, and by golly, no Madison Avenue hotshot was going to change that.
