Apple iPhone launch date explored

Engadget publishes delay rumor; sends stock price briefly down
Sister site Engadget published a rumor on May 16th that momentarily sent AAPL stock down 2.7%. The rumor, that Apple wouldn't release the iPhone until October, was quickly addressed by Apple with the email pictured here. The question remains: what does Apple mean, "late June"? Where I come from, the 11th is not "late," meaning that the iPhone is delayed, but not by quite as much as we thought.
