Starbucks of long ago had a rule: customers should smell fresh coffee when they walked into a store. But with the advent of knock-off Egg McMuffins, the smell was decidedly more eggy in the morning. But Howard Schultz made that change quickly; no more breakfast sandwiches as of the end of 2008.
