Because they have been Lobbying the Fed's and their State's to not be included and thus will not face the increases the rest of us have had too. Our representatives do not "really" listen to the people, they only listen to Lobbyists and those who bankroll them. Ugh!.....Change the tax system.

Jun 8th 2011 12:36PM I agree with 'hardensound'. The percentage of small businesses in the 25-500 employee range are the one's you are probably quoting. You never mentioned the large increases small independant businesses (self employed, d/b/a's) have had to face in tax increases not only with the Federal Government, but the State government as well. It makes it impossible to hire additional employees, at the same time stop reinvesting in their businesses for growth.
You also didn't mention how many of these small businesses are 'dumping' their employee benefit packages or severely cutting them.
Taking these factors into consideration your numbers would read quite a bit different than you are purporting.
keep in mind that 85% of d/b/a small businesses make up the largest percentage of what truly is "small business" in this country and generally have less than 5 employees.

Feb 25th 2010 4:22PM Sen. Reids opinion that 58& of the people want the Health Bill as written must be with selective people. I would be very curious what size pool of people they used to come up with this.
The present bill is much too costly for this country to undertake as is. We should be Regulating the insurance industry as a first step. Secondly we should put in place "no denial for pre-existing conditions or "delayed" coverage. The fact that some of the Insurer's are presently raising policy's by 39-78% is outrageous when they are earning 2 billion a year as the news is stating. This is my reason for calling for Federal Regulation to be tightened.
I do not want the Federal Government (owning) overseeing my Health Care which in turn will fully control that industry, as they have done with GM and Chrysler.
The Health Care Fix should be broken into increments, and implemented over a period of years on an incremental basis.

Dec 22nd 2008 2:41PM This congress (especially the leaders of the finance/banking committee) have led us down a dooms day path.
The lies and cockey attitudes these 3 top men display and have been displaying since the fall of 08 is deplorable. Just look into their conflict of interests through relationships, holdings, sponsored bills, relatives, loved ones, etc. and it tells you why we cannot trust our politicians.
When our congress deviates from the constitution of these united states and the judicial department does not step in and hold them accountable for following the 'rule of governing' we are all in trouble.
who is going to stand up and protect this union which was formed for you and I and put in their trust. That is the basis for all of this "trust". The Congress and Senate have failed to do their job.
Our constitution does not have a proviso for the Paulson to run our government. He is not an elected official and has yet to follow the rules of the TARP as set down by the congress. It is time the congress took that power back and deal with it in the proper manner as bills through the congress to committee and then presented to the floor and enacted upon.
If they survive or fail it will have been done by the powers we elected. Not by an illegal fifedom.

Oct 16th 2008 3:19PM We have the foxes in the hen house with the so called "financial hearings" going on. First we have Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Shumer sitting up there pointing fingers at others when they are just as culpable for the fall. If the Democrats had not pushed, and pushed for low income housing for people who could not afford it...i.e. nothing down and pay just the interest. which was then signed into bill form in 1999 by then President Clinton....
This then put our banks on the line and at risk for any losses from these mortgages. Many were bullied by Acorn in the process to get these loans done.
Let's face it; a person who has never owned a home before, let alone seen the paperwork that a bank puts in front of them with sticker arrows reading "sign here" is not skilled in banking matters, and would believe them to be honorable, Have you ever read the details on all the papers put in front of you, front and back in the time alloted you to complete the transactions without be 'rushed along' i.e. I have another appointment and these are just standard forms.. "They would just sign on the line"...They want to believe in their government....
What a rude awakening...
The business and forcasters, (talking heads) that are now trying to place the blame on the under-educated people who were taken advantage of, should be ashamed of themselves. The Government did a large advertising campaign, and a "drive" using a'Acorn' to bring these people in for these underhanded mortgages instruments.
Others taken advantage of were 'first-time home buyers,their governments was propsing had their best interests at heart. They believed what their Government led them into and followed through, like sheep being led to slaughter.
Realize, that even today, these same instruments are still being offered. You can find them on the internet with a simple search. Why would our government not put rules, regulations, and stardards to be used in lending instruments, BEFORE giving our 700 billion away.
We were told there would be transparancy with regard to the 700 billion dollar distribution. I've yet to hear the location of the web site where we can read the details. So much for transparance.
They banks will do the same thing with the monies we give them now as they did with the last 300 billion we gave them. Off-set their own books and hold onto it. Where are the rules that apply to this lending?

Oct 9th 2008 4:42PM When questions relative to the background of a Presidental candidate are not addressed nor answered by the candidate themselves; except as a passing statement, this causes the concern where in the question may be relevant.
I would like to know what the FBI report reads: That would give us the answers we need to resolve this once and for all. No one runs for the office of President without a thorough FBI background check. This is the report we should be asking for to confirm of denounce the claims being made about Sen. Obama and his background, his connections, his questionable monies and connections to extremist groups.
We are not just aquaintances of extremists. Bad judgement rubs off, and when you continue the relationship into your business and boards you have a relationship.
The FBI Report should be released to resolve this once and for all. This has been going on since his name came into the race. Why is the FBI not releasing the information?
