Apple Target Gets Raised to $260 {BloggingStocks}
Jan 7th 2010 11:37PM We understand raising price targets, but what about time-frame? I price target without a very specific time frame seems to be an incomplete forecast. We wish more and more analysts would give their price targets along-with specific time frames so that investors can make a judgment as to which stock is a better investment.

Top Picks for 2010: iShares Silver Trust (SLV) {BloggingStocks}
Jan 5th 2010 1:54PM We think the bigger question to ask is whether there should be a co-relation between Gold and Silver at all. For example, you could argue there is co-relation between Oil and Oil Services companies. Is there such a thing for the metals? We do not think so. In fact Silver is more of an industrial metal than Gold. But Gold has the lustre and the general public like to buy gold when they feel all else is down. No such sentiment for Silver.
Our case for Silver is we need to look at it more as a industrial commodity than a precious metal. From that perspective if Silver looks attractive, then yes, let us invest in it.

Why Google's Nexus One Smartphone Isn't Meant to Take Anything Away from Apple {BloggingStocks}
Jan 5th 2010 11:28AM We forget that the smartphone space itself is expanding rapidly. More and more cell phone users are opting for the smartphone these days. Also, once a user gets hooked onto the smartphone they get used to it and will never ever go back to a regular phone. Very soon almost 80% of cell phones sold will be smartphones.
So, Google's entry into this market is more to get in on the future potential rather than take away market sare from Apple. There is going to be enough market developing without them having to eke out market share from Apple or RIMM for that matter.

Tech Stock #1: Amazon.com (AMZN) {BloggingStocks}
Jan 4th 2010 9:27PM What about valuations of AMZN? We feel that the December retail sales is already baked into the stock price. Also, with Apple's impending tablet PC announcement, there is a good possibility that Amazon's Kindle sales will suffer. Our rating on AMZN is a hold at this time based on risk/reward analysis.

Black Friday expected to be strong, no promises for Christmas {BloggingStocks}
Nov 24th 2009 11:14AM The Black Friday sale is indeed going to be interesting. I think it will determine which direction the market will turn in the near future. I almost feel that the expectations are so low that the numbers are going to end up looking good. Then the same for the holiday shopping. I think we are going to be mostly measuring against last year's numbers and not worrying too much about how the sales stack up from a historical perspective. So, we should be good.

Is dollar destined to dive in 2010? {BloggingStocks}
Nov 23rd 2009 6:28PM I always wonder about how the experts make these predictions on currencies so far out in the future. I would imagine that it would be hard to do that using technical charting. Perhaps, with good software that can be done. But that far out, it is also so much dependent on interest rates, overall Fed policy and the global trade scenario.

About the stock bloggers: Sheldon D. Liber, AIA {BloggingStocks}
Nov 11th 2009 9:51PM Sheldon: It was good to "discover" you and your investment philosophy. I respect people greatly who have the ability to openly disclose their stock picks and disclose the performance of their historical stock picks. I read your recent articles about picks for 2010 and the performance of your 2009 picks. Then I also read your bio and investment philosophy. I am very impressed and draw confidence from your background, since I am also from a different background but love the world of investments. My investment philosophy is somewhat different from yours but none-the-less I am going to highlight you and your articles on my blog at TalkFN.com. Hope to read a lot more from you in the future.
Thanks,

A little federal income tax hike would go a long way {BloggingStocks}
Nov 5th 2009 9:25PM A little discussion on taxes never hurt anyone. Your proposal about raising taxes is general. It is not clear whether you want to raise taxes for the rich or for everyone (including companies). I have nothing against raising taxes as long as it is fair to everyone. I do not earn a huge income but would like to one day and I am working towards it. I hate to say it but the tax structure gives the impression that you will be punished for earning more. I am all for higher taxes if it will help the country, but it needs to be a flat tax rate. I have discussed this in more detail at TalkFN.com under "The myth and the math of taxes".
