Analyst Predicts $110 per Barrel Oil by July {BloggingStocks}
Apr 5th 2010 10:45AM Hahah, I am amazed that some are assuming I care nothing for the world except for my own self. Just because I own oil stocks and am hoping to make a profit?
If anything, the fact that some can become so easily misguided and resort to witch-hunting mentality will be the world's undoing.
Look, I care very much about the world and the people around me. This has nothing to do with it. And if you can't figure out why, to be blunt, it's because of your own ignorance, not because I'm trading stocks.
Analyst Predicts $110 per Barrel Oil by July {BloggingStocks}
Apr 2nd 2010 4:25PM Having a large stake in oil services right now, I am genuinely interested in the development of crude oil prices. In fact, for what it's worth, I actually hope that it does hit $100+ per barrel, at least long enough for me to sell at a decent profit.
That said, I am curious as to what data exactly is Mr. Schork using to predict such an oil price?
What about the substantial supply cuts that OPEC has made, resulting in their large stockpile? Couldn't they simply increase the supply again to moderate crude oil prices?
As for motivation, surely they also realize that if the price of oil is too high, that can stunt our fragile economy's chances of recovery, as well as further fan the growing desire to lessen fossil fuel dependence.
While I too am wagering that oil prices will go up, I wonder just how much so and for how long?
3D Console Will Forever Change Video Game Stocks {BloggingStocks}
Mar 30th 2010 10:46AM Logically, I know in my mind that 3D is gimmicky, and the weak link that is the glasses. Non-glasses (lenticular) 3D is still years away, and extremely expensive even if it's commercially available somehow. It's said to have a more limited viewing angle as welll....
However, as a gamer myself, I am just SALIVATING at the thought of Avatar-like 3D gaming possibilities. I may have to wear a glasses, but real gamers are very open to accommodating themselves to cutting-edge technology.
What's more, 3D technology in every major aspect already exists and can be quickly adapted. That translates to a relatively low cost of entry for the first generation. Remember, it wasn't that long ago when widescreen HDTVs and Blu-Ray discs were considered optional, and some (even Nintendo) shunned it for being too "early".
I'm... still iffy about going into media stocks. If I were to play this, I would probably focus on the commodity screen-makers that supply these 3D screens for TV manufacturers. I don't have a name in mind though. Anybody know if somebody like AUO is going to be making 3D TV screens?
But anyways, as a consumer, I am definitely interested in 3D HDTV for gaming some day.
As for Nintendo's 3DS, I'm going to wait and see on that one.
Oil Lurches Toward $80, and Beyond ... {BloggingStocks}
Feb 19th 2010 9:44AM I don't know how high oil will get, but Warren Buffett was willing to go as far as acquiring BNI, and instituting a stock split to accommodate it.
That says something....

Toyota Recalls Are Much Ado About Not Much {BloggingStocks}
Feb 6th 2010 9:54AM Oh, I'm absolutely loving the media hysteria surrounding this recall. Loving it! It's generated such a great buying opportunity, and I'm completely bullish on this one.
Apple $300 -- Not This Year! {BloggingStocks}
Feb 4th 2010 8:15PM I'm surprised at the comments in this thread.
Look guys, Apple is a great company, but the iPad is not the revolutionary product such as the iPhone, the iPod, or the iMac when they were first introduced. And that's OK. The iPad is still a good product for a niche market, but it's no more and no less than that.
Options Update: Toyota Motor Put Volume and Volatility Increases as Shares Sell Off 7% {BloggingStocks}
Feb 3rd 2010 6:05PM I don't know about you guys, but I think this pullback is a buy. There isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the company, and they're on top of it. If I'm wrong, please let me know, because otherwise, I'm setting up to buy in.

Is the Free Ride Over at Hulu? {BloggingStocks}
Feb 1st 2010 3:30PM Perhaps another way to look at this issue is, "What is the competition doing?"
YouTube is monetizing theirs soon, but unlike Hulu, I believe they have more options available to them because they allow the community to upload their own content, whereas Hulu does not have such a service.
Apple iTunes provides superior integration with iPod and pricing was great at the time.
Netflix already offers many premium content at a flat monthly rate.
Traditional cable and satellite is still the only method to get true 1080p HD, and some, especially sports fans, will still take this route....
So, when you look at it that way, the only relative certainty, it seems, is that it's going to be an up-hill battle for Hulu once they start the attempt to monetize it. I don't see the "wide moat" here.
