The high value attributed to this division in our analysis comes from expectations of rapid growth in Akamai's revenue per media customer. As a content delivery company providing web content to its customers, Akamai competes with other players like InterNAP Network Services (INAP), Limelight Networks (LLNW) and Level 3 (LVLT).

Our price estimate for Akamai stands at $37.11, which is roughly in line with market price.

Continue reading A Bright Outlook for Akamai's Revenue per Media Customer

A Bright Outlook for Akamai's Revenue per Media Customer originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Fri, 25 Mar 2011 14:00:00 EST. It competes with other players like InterNAP Network Services, Limelight Networks and Level 3 in this business and delivers close to 20% of global web traffic. Our price estimate for Akamai stands at $37.11, which is roughly 10% below market price.

Akamai stands to gain from current data trends. As Internet usage accelerates, Akamai's fundamental business drivers continue to improve. Notably, mobile data usage is growing at a faster pace than overall data usage, creating a few unique opportunities (and risks) for Akamai.

Continue reading Mobile Traffic Explosion Creates Both Opportunity and Risk for Akamai

Mobile Traffic Explosion Creates Both Opportunity and Risk for Akamai originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Sat, 05 Mar 2011 09:20:00 EST. Level 3 said it has been chosen as a primary content delivery network provider for Netflix, with the company providing support for streaming movies and TV shows. Additionally, Level 3 will store Netflix's entire streaming content library beginning Jan. 1.
This announcement confirms speculation that started swirling earlier in the week, when rumors hit Wall Street that Netflix was looking to ditch its content delivery deal with Akamai Technologies (AKAM). Shares of Akamai slipped about 3% Thursday morning, even though Netflix said earlier it would "continue to engage Akamai as part of our multivendor strategy."
Continue reading Level 3 Communications Scores Lucrative Netflix Deal

Level 3 Communications Scores Lucrative Netflix Deal originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 11 Nov 2010 11:20:00 EST. Sometimes the market likes QE2 and sometimes it doesn't. Today is a day where the markets are struggling to to figure out what influence to follow. Gold was above $1400 and oil hit new recent highs, but both gave some back today as the market correlation between the dollar and other markets was not tick for tick.
The indices have been stuck in a range for months between around 1,040 and 1,130 on the S&P 500. The economic reports have been mixed and have offered very little visibility into what the future may hold. The Street.com's Jim Cramer says that it's awful knowing that Galleon had every single nuance of the next Intel call.

The call. The edge. The inside scoop. At one point, you could have it. At one point, before Regulation Fair Disclosure (FD), persistence, hard work, going to meetings, doing everything you could to learn a company entitled you to a callback from the company. The rules were clear: If you got something that was material and non-public, you couldn't trade on it, you were frozen. But there were some blurred lines and the intensive research shops with great industry contacts could get an ever-so-slight heads up that could make a difference. Or you could go to a one-on-one where management might let slip something no one had, and you could have that momentary head start.

But Regulation FD ended all that. All the insider calls, the disclosure at one-on-ones, anything that smacked even of proprietary information. The rules were no longer voluntary. It wasn't a question of freezing. It was a question of talking. You couldn't talk to "them." Hedge funds could not talk one-on-one to anyone of authority at a company. The insider would face prosecution, do you weren't even supposed to try.
Continue reading Cramer on BloggingStocks: A mockery of the game

Cramer on BloggingStocks: A mockery of the game originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Tue, 20 Oct 2009 10:00:00 EST.
