The editor of Ticker Tape Digest, which specializes in stocks breaking out from basing patterns, explains, "Technically, the stock has broken out from a 6-week flat base ; the move took the shares to an all-time high.
"With annual revenues of $3.7 billion, the company provides original and purchased programming across multiple distribution platforms in the US and 170 other countries.
Continue reading Discovery Communications (DISCA): Media Breakout

Discovery Communications (DISCA): Media Breakout originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 28 Oct 2010 10:30:00 EST.
Most dads don't need a reason to be proud of their little girls. Just the fact that our daughters are our own little princesses can produce pride enough for even the roughest dudes. The proposition is rendered even sweeter when you're out in public and your little girl acts like a perfect lady beside you. But perhaps the greatest pride producer of all is when your daughter conducts herself like a lady in your absence. Such is the priceless tribute paid to the the legacy of the late Steve Irwin, by his daughter Bindi Irwin, each and every day.

Blessed with her father's innate connection to wildlife and a quick, cute wit that is her own, Bindi Irwin has forged ahead in her father's absence to carry the messages of nature conservation. With the caring guidance of Terri Irwin, her stout-hearted and intelligent mother, Bindi has traveled extensively, including promotional visits to New York and Los Angeles. Additionally, when she's not globe trotting, Bindi makes regular entertainment appearances at the Animal Planet Crocoseum, in conjunction with Australia Zoo.

Continue reading Heir apparent: Bindi Irwin watches the animals for dad Steve

Heir apparent: Bindi Irwin watches the animals for dad Steve originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 10:10:00 EST.
HowStuffWorks.com, a privately held company whose best known owner is investor Carl Icahn, was founded by Marshall Brain in 1998. Brain is a university professor in North Carolina. He built the audience for the site by analyzing what people were searching for on the Internet and creating content to answer those queries.

In addition to HowStuffWorks.com, the purchase will include several other digital properties including a map database, which are not yet profitable. Discovery hopes that by controlling a website that already gets 3.8 million unique U.S. users each month it will have more success drawing Internet users to its online content. Chief Executive David Zaslav, who has been redesigning Discovery in his own image since taking over in January, told the Journal he believes this acquisition will give Discovery the "online firepower" it's been lacking.

Discovery to buy HowStuffWorks.com originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 15 Oct 2007 13:15:00 EST. And they finally have. But just because something exists, does not mean that it's well-publicized.

My husband and I chuckled behind our hands when my brother-in-law told us to ask for the Spanish-language package onComcast - but it saved us money on the channels we used most. The cable company's new Family Tier, priced at only$33.29 in the Denver, Colo. area, would be even better for us (and keep us away from the dreaded Fox News, which forsome reason is considered non-family-friendly option - a topic for an entirely other post, I'm sure). But, as the Denver Post reports, Comcast isn't exactlybeing proactive about letting consumers know they can opt in to the kindler, gentler bargain content.
Continue reading What Comcast giveth to families... they telleth not of

What Comcast giveth to families... they telleth not of originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 01 May 2006 17:40:00 EST.
