(<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/potash-corporation-of-saskatchewan-inc/pot/nys">POT</a>), first discussed here on March 3, 2009, at a price of $80.81.</p>
<p>In November, BHP Billiton (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/bhp-billiton-plc/bbl/nys">BBL</a>) withdrew its unsolicited proposal to acquire Potash for $130 a share. As outlined <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/02/potash-stock-play-for-a-hungry-world/">in December</a>, Potash is worth a lot more than $130, and the recent move to <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=pot">above $180</a> confirms the aforementioned.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/21/potash-well-positioned-for-the-food-boom/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Potash: Well-Positioned for the Food Boom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/21/potash-well-positioned-for-the-food-boom/">Potash: Well-Positioned for the Food Boom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 21 Feb 2011 14:00:00 EST. According to the U.K.'s <em>Daily Mail</em>, BHP could be prepping an offer worth <a href="http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/keyDevelopments?rpc=66&amp;symbol=APC&amp;timestamp=20101230133400">$90 per share</a> to acquire Anadarko. However, neither company has issued a formal response to the speculation.</p>
<p>After jumping to a new annual high of $76.50 bright and early Thursday morning, APC is on pace to notch a weekly finish atop the $70 level for the first time since April 23. In fact, if the shares can maintain their positive momentum through Friday's close, the shares could stage their first weekly victory north of $75 since June 2008.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/30/anadarko-petroleum-higher-on-buyout-rumors/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Anadarko Petroleum Bounces Higher on Buyout Buzz</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/30/anadarko-petroleum-higher-on-buyout-rumors/">Anadarko Petroleum Bounces Higher on Buyout Buzz</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 30 Dec 2010 11:00:00 EST. In the case of Caterpiller (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/caterpillar-incorporated/cat/nys">CAT</a>), which reported that it is <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/caterpillar-to-buy-bucyrus-for-8-6-billion/19716808/">going to buy Bucyrus for $8.6 billion</a>, it is the latter. The company has had a terrific year in which it has seen a 76% increase in it's growth. This rapid increase in business has pushed the PEG ratio down to a low 0.86 with the stock trading near its 52- week high.<br />
<br />
From what I can gather, the deal between CAT and Bucyrus has merit. Does that mean this is a good time to buy Caterpillar stock? I don't think so. More often than not, stocks trading near their highs will present better entry points with greater value to the more patient investor.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/15/chasing-value-caterpillar-is-not-dirt-cheap/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chasing Value: Caterpillar Is Not Dirt Cheap</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/15/chasing-value-caterpillar-is-not-dirt-cheap/">Chasing Value: Caterpillar Is Not Dirt Cheap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 15 Nov 2010 15:00:00 EST. So far, the small cap stocks have maintained the lead, but a shift is taking place and the longer the bull runs and the worse global news becomes, the more this is likely to continue.</p>
<p>I have decided to examine the largest of the large cap stocks; lets call them the "super" caps; the top twelve as of May 13, 2010. Over the course of this series, the order will change and the bottom few may fade in and out as the market activity dictates. I may update the order, but for simplicity's sake will not change the stocks from the current list.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/17/serious-money-buying-super-caps/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Serious Money: Buying the Super Caps</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/17/serious-money-buying-super-caps/">Serious Money: Buying the Super Caps</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 17 May 2010 12:00:00 EST. What does that mean for continued growth in China and also for the global copper market? <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"> A.</span> China and indeed much of Asia and the Middle East are in a generational-long period where they have to build infrastructure from the ground up. The push for educating, housing, transporting and employing large young populations requires massive investment, fueling demand for commodities across the boards. <br /><br /> The supply side was completely taken unawares by this demand following the 20-year crushing bear market that cut exploration budgets to the bone. That is now changing, as major mining groups compete for the best resources, particularly in politically stable parts of the world.<br /><br /> China continues to lead the world in terms of GDP growth, although it has recently manufactured a slowdown to combat rising inflation, generally positive for the economy.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/08/13/global-q-and-a-conserve-your-resources/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Global Q &amp; A: Conserve your resources</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/08/13/global-q-and-a-conserve-your-resources/">Global Q &amp; A: Conserve your resources</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 13 Aug 2008 17:55:00 EST.
