<p><strong>How Much Will Suppliers Benefit from iPad 2 Sales in 2011?</strong></p>
<p>Here we take a look at how much various iPad 2 component suppliers stand to gain from the product's success. We assume that Apple will continue to source iPad 2 components from the same set of suppliers throughout 2011.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/26/how-much-will-suppliers-gain-from-ipad-2-in-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How Much Will Suppliers Gain from iPad 2 in 2011?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/26/how-much-will-suppliers-gain-from-ipad-2-in-2011/">How Much Will Suppliers Gain from iPad 2 in 2011?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 26 Mar 2011 14:00:00 EST. The stock went down 6% to a quote of $43.55. That was quite the reversal of fortune, as the shares had closed the regular session higher by 2.9%, settling out at $46.39. The 52-week high is $47.39, so the pullback might be considered a bit of a disappointment. <br />
<p>
Then again, is a pullback in this name an opportunity? The business made, on an adjusted basis, 75 cents per share in the fourth quarter, according to <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/broadcom-net-jumps-more-than-fourfold-2011-02-01">MarketWatch</a>. This was one penny better than the consensus estimate.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/02/broadcom-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Broadcom Earnings: Buy or Sell</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/02/broadcom-earnings/">Broadcom Earnings: Buy or Sell</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 02 Feb 2011 09:30:00 EST. We'll find out whether there's been any movement on that front when employment data for January comes out this week. The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Challenger%20Job-Cut%20Report">Challenger Job-Cut</a> report and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/ADP%20National%20Employment%20Report">ADP employment data</a> are due Wednesday, and the government's unemployment rate on Friday. Another mild increase in jobs is expected, in line with the three-month average, but not enough to significantly reduce the unemployment rate.</p>
<p>Also look for the ISM <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/ISM%20Manufacturing%20Index">manufacturing</a> and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/ISM%20Non-Manufacturing%20Index">nonmanufacturing</a> indexes this week, as well as the Chicago <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Purchasing%20Managers%20Index%20-%20PMI">PMI</a> and the New York <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/National%20Association%20of%20Purchasing%20Management%20Chicago%20-%20NAPM%20Chicago">NAPM</a> index. The trend belief is now that quantitative easing (QE2) is going to be lower in dollars and be spread out over a longer period. This all leads to some give-back for stocks, and longer-term bond yields rose as well. <br />

Companies are putting their cash to work on public companies fetching discounted equity prices in a market environment favoring safety (e.g., gold and bonds).</p>
<p>Recently, Hewlett-Packard (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/hewlett-packard-company/hpq/nys">HPQ</a>) edged out Dell (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/dell-inc/dell/nas">DELL</a>) for the 3Par deal award. With an eye toward the future, HP displayed their powerful desire to own a piece of the data storage and cloud computing pie. Since Dell ended empty-handed, it's only a matter of time before the next stock is a tech heavyweight's prime target.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/08/is-brocade-the-next-3par/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Is Brocade the Next 3Par?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/08/is-brocade-the-next-3par/">Is Brocade the Next 3Par?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 08 Sep 2010 12:40:00 EST. And for a stock that has seen four big price gaps during 2010, the move could be a big one. The question is, will the stock gap higher or lower?</p>
<p>Goldman Sachs -- citing influences like a higher mix of smartphones and tablets, the move from voice-to-data-centric devices in China and India and a weaker US dollar -- recently reiterated its Conviction Buy List rating for Qualcomm and raised its <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Price%20Target" class="inlinked">price target</a> from $44 to $46.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/02/time-to-ride-a-qualcomm-straddle/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Time to Ride a Qualcomm Straddle?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/02/time-to-ride-a-qualcomm-straddle/">Time to Ride a Qualcomm Straddle?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 13:30:00 EST. The reaction to the numbers was neither bad nor the biggest pop you've ever seen. The shares moved higher by just under 1%, coming in at $37.85. <br />
<br />
According to the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/broadcom-reports-jump-in-2q-profit-on/586359/">Associated Press,</a> the tech company that prides itself on being an expert on semiconductors for communication products made 66 cents per share on an adjusted basis. This was four pennies ahead of estimates. Net sales powered higher by over 50%, in-line with projections.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/28/broadcom-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Broadcom Earnings Top Estimates, but Is It Time to Take Profits?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/28/broadcom-earnings/">Broadcom Earnings Top Estimates, but Is It Time to Take Profits?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 28 Jul 2010 09:00:00 EST. <p>The three months that ended in June saw <strong>Southwest Airlines</strong> celebrate the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/southwest-airlines-celebrates-39-years-of-service-with-39-one-way-fares/rfid341177801/?channel=pf">39th anniversary</a> of its founding, and it also declared a <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/southwest-airlines-declares-135th-consecutive-quarterly-dividend/rfid330813430/?channel=pf">quarterly dividend</a>. Analysts expect the Dallas-based no-frills carrier to report that second-quarter earnings came to 27 cents a share, a 70.4% rise from a year earlier. Revenue for the period is expected to have grown 20.4% to $3.2 billion. So far, analysts predict similar earnings and revenue numbers for the third quarter. But earnings results were better than expected in the past four quarters, beating consensus estimates by as much as 47%.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/25/the-week-in-preview-high-expectations-for-southwest-chevron-b/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Week in Preview: High Expectations for Southwest, Chevron, Broadcom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/25/the-week-in-preview-high-expectations-for-southwest-chevron-b/">The Week in Preview: High Expectations for Southwest, Chevron, Broadcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 25 Jul 2010 12:30:00 EST. <br />
QUALCOMM is springing higher, challenging resistance at $36 and Goldman Sachs (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-goldman-sachs-group-inc/gs/nys" class="inlinked">GS</a>) just put the stock on its prestigious Conviction Buy List -- citing faster smartphone growth and product cycles.<br />
<br />
Goldman estimates that every 1% share shift into Android-based smartphones translates to $0.06 in EPS upside for QUALCOMM.<br />
<br />
QUALCOMM's chipsets are in 80% of Android-based smartphones and the company's Android ASPs are more than double its average ASP, according to the firm.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/12/bullish-on-android-smartphones-buy-qualcomm/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bullish on Android Smartphones? <br />
Look for Broadcom to post an impressive 30-40% revenue increase in 2010, propelled higher by higher information technology spending. <br />
