(<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/oracle-corporation/orcl/nas" class="inlinked">ORCL</a>), Bed Bath &amp; Beyond Inc. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc/bbby/nas" class="inlinked">BBBY</a>) and Nike Corp. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/nike-inc/nke/nys" class="inlinked">NKE</a>). Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are looking for healthy year-over-year earnings and revenue growth from each of them.</p>
<p>Analysts on average expect enterprise software giant <strong>Oracle</strong> to report that its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 14.8% from a year ago to $0.54 per share. Revenue for the three months that ended in May is expected to have risen about 38.1% in the past year to $9.5 billion. Oracle's per-share earnings have not fallen short of consensus estimates in the past five quarters. The First Call recommendation of 37 analysts is to buy ORCL and has been for more than 90 days. Shares have retreated recently from the 52-week high of $26.63 and closed the week at $23.20.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/20/expectations-for-oracle-nike-interest-rates/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Week in Preview: Expectations for Oracle, Nike, Interest Rates</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/20/expectations-for-oracle-nike-interest-rates/">The Week in Preview: Expectations for Oracle, Nike, Interest Rates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 20 Jun 2010 12:30:00 EST. And this coming week's economic calendar for the U.S. starts off with the ISM nonmanufacturer's survey results for April and NAR's pending home sales for February on Monday morning. This glimpse at the service and housing sectors will be followed by March's consumer credit numbers Monday afternoon. Then things are pretty quiet until Friday's release of factory orders and wholesale trade numbers for February.</p>
<p>Between the Monday and Friday economic numbers will come the release on Tuesday of the minutes of the March 16 FOMC meeting, a record of the Fed's most recent thinking on monetary policy.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/04/the-week-in-preview-a-quiet-start-to-the-cruelest-month/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Week in Preview: A Quiet Start to the Cruelest Month</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/04/the-week-in-preview-a-quiet-start-to-the-cruelest-month/">The Week in Preview: A Quiet Start to the Cruelest Month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 04 Apr 2010 12:30:00 EST. I can stomach paying to check bags and for snacks. To me, it makes sense, as they provide important revenue streams and strike me as products and services for which it's possible to charge with little disruption to the passenger experience. <br />
<br />
But, as of May 1, 2010, <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/travel/2010-02-09-american09_ST_N.htm" target="_blank">the airline will be charging $8 for a blanket and inflatable neck pillow on flights lasting more than two hours</a> - including flights to Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. But, for your trouble, American will toss in a $10 coupon towards a purchase of more than $30 from Bed Bath &amp; Beyond (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc/bbby/nas" target="_blank">BBBY</a>). <br />
<br />
Of course, on flights lasting less than two hours, American's policy is BYO. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.gadling.com/2010/02/09/american-airlines-removes-free-blankets/">If you want to stay warm, cram your own blanket into your carry-on</a>.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/02/09/amr-finds-new-way-to-nickel-and-dime-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AMR Finds New Way to Nickel and Dime You</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/02/09/amr-finds-new-way-to-nickel-and-dime-you/">AMR Finds New Way to Nickel and Dime You</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 09 Feb 2010 09:40:00 EST. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are expecting to see strong earnings growth from fertilizer producer <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-mosaic-company/mos/nys">Mosaic Co.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-mosaic-company/mos/nys">MOS</a>), biotech giant <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/monsanto-company/mon/nys">Monsanto Co.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/monsanto-company/mon/nys">MON</a>), and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/neogen-corporation/neog/nas">Neogen Corp.</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/neogen-corporation/neog/nas">NEOG</a>), which produces food safety and animal health products. Mosaic's estimated earnings per share of $1.43 for the fiscal second quarter would be 41.9% higher than a year ago, and its revenue estimate of $3.0 billion is 36.7% higher. Monsanto's $0.59 per share projection for the fiscal first quarter is 22.0% higher and sales of $2.4 billion are up 14.9%. And Neogen's second-quarter $0.25 per share would be 12.0% higher, while its sales of $32.3 million are up 18.6%. All three have tended to beat expectations in recent quarters, and all three have buy recommendations from a consensus of analysts. <a href="http://ir.mosaicco.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=70455&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1235347&amp;highlight=">Mosaic</a> and <a href="http://monsanto.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&amp;item=669">Monsanto</a> have recently announced dividends, and their share prices have fallen 62.3% and 39.0%, respectively, from a year ago. The share price of Neogen, which recently <a href="http://www.neogen.com/Corporate/PR2008/2008-12-11.html">announced share buybacks</a>, is only 0.8% lower.</p>

(TGT)</a>, <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/category/bbby/" rel="tag">Bed Bath and Beyond (BBBY)</a></p><p>Ever read an earnings report and say to yourself, "man, there's just nothing going on here?" I did exactly that Wednesday with <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc/bbby/nas">Bed Bath &amp; Beyond</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc/bbby/nas">BBBY</a>) and its second-quarter <a href="http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/pr/_a/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc-reports-net/rfid142864860">report</a>. <br /></p>
<p>To be fair, something <em>is</em> going on with the retailer. Earnings per diluted share decreased 16% to 46 cents. And net cash from operating activities took a big 40% dive, coming in at $168 million. So, yes, something is going on, it just isn't anything good.</p>
<p>And if you think those stats are bad, consider that same-store sales for the quarter went down by 0.1%. Okay, is it really fair to point out that comps declined by 0.1%? Shouldn't I have just said "flat" instead? I mean, it's almost like rubbing the depressing results in the face of management by literally writing the exact percentage that comps declined at when said percentage is so unequivocally small. Hey, maybe management needs a reminder that, in the year-ago quarter, comps were actually up to the tune of 2.2%. What happened? <br /></p>
<p>Well, I will cut some slack here since we are in the grips of an economic mess and I certainly would assume that all the problems in the housing industry are taking their noxious toll on the retailer. I'm not sure consumers are in the mood to buy a lot of bathroom accessories while Congress is trying to figure out how to keep the financial matrix from imploding. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/09/25/bed-bath-and-beyond-a-downer-of-a-quarter/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bed Bath &amp; Beyond -- a downer of a quarter</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/09/25/bed-bath-and-beyond-a-downer-of-a-quarter/">Bed Bath &amp; Beyond -- a downer of a quarter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 10:24:00 EST. Much of the attention this week will be on homebuilders <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/kb-home/kbh/nys">KB Home</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/kb-home/kbh/nys">KBH</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/lennar-corporation/len/nys">Lennar Corp.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/lennar-corporation/len/nys">LEN</a>) as investors look for any sign that the housing sector has bottomed (home sales numbers are also due out this week; see below). Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial anticipate that both companies will report that they narrowed their losses in the most recent quarter.</p>
<p>KB Home's expected $1.25 per share loss, on revenue of $725.5 million, compares to the previous quarter loss of $3.30 and to a year-ago loss of $6.19. However, KB Home's losses in the past few quarters have been <a href="http://finance.aol.com/earnings/kb-home/kbh/nys/actuals-estimates">deeper than expected</a>. The Los Angeles-based homebuilder's long-range earnings growth forecast is 10.5%, less than the S&amp;P 500. Analysts continue to recommend <a href="http://finance.aol.com/earnings/kb-home/kbh/nys/analyst-recommendations">holding KB Home</a>, and have for at least 120 days. Shares<strike>, however, reached a new 52-week high of $31.69 on Friday, and they</strike> are up 10.5% year to date.</p>
<p><a></a>Lennar is expected to post a loss of 52 cents per share, on revenue of $1.1 billion. That compares to the previous quarter's per-share loss of 76 cents and to a year-ago loss of $3.25. While Lennar also has tended in the past few quarters to <a href="http://finance.aol.com/earnings/lennar-corporation/len/nys/actuals-estimates">miss expectations</a>, the Miami-based company managed a positive surprise in the first quarter of 2008. Lennar's long-range earnings growth forecast is 10.3%, about the same as KB Home's. Analysts also recommend <a href="http://finance.aol.com/earnings/lennar-corporation/len/nys/analyst-recommendations">holding Lennar</a>. <strike>Friday, </strike>shares of Lennar <strike>also reached a 52-week high, $27.75, but they</strike> are down 6.4% year to date.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/09/21/the-week-in-preview-a-bottom-for-housing-sector/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The week in preview: A bottom for the housing sector?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/09/21/the-week-in-preview-a-bottom-for-housing-sector/">The week in preview: A bottom for the housing sector?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 21 Sep 2008 12:30:00 EST. <ul>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/alcoa-inc/aa/nys"><strong>Alcoa Inc.</strong></a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/alcoa-inc/aa/nys">AA</a>) will kick off the new earnings season next week, but <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/04/alcoa-aa-q4-earnings-preview/">expectations are low</a>.</li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc/bbby/nas"><strong>Bed Bath &amp; Beyond Inc.</strong></a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/bed-bath-and-beyond-inc/bbby/nas">BBBY</a>) <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/03/bed-bath-and-beyond-bbby-earnings-not-beyond-reproach/">met low earnings estimates</a> but shares dropped to a new low. </li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cal-maine-foods-inc/calm/nas"><strong>Cal-Maine Foods</strong></a>' (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cal-maine-foods-inc/calm/nas">CALM</a>) <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/30/no-egg-on-cal-maines-face/">revenue and profit soared</a> on strength in the market for fresh eggs. </li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/merge-technologies-incorporated/mrge/nas"><strong>Merge Technologies Inc.</strong></a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/merge-technologies-incorporated/mrge/nas">MRGE</a>) announced <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/31/sec-launches-formal-investigation-into-merge-technologies/">another dismal quarter</a>, along with an SEC probe. </li>
    <li><strong><u><font color="#810081"><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/monsanto-company/mon/nys">Monsanto Co.</a></font></u></strong> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/monsanto-company/mon/nys">MON</a>) <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/03/options-update-1-3-08-monsanto-mon-volatility-up/">beat earnings expectations</a> and revised its guidance. </li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/retalix-ltd/rtlx/nas"><strong>Retalix Ltd.</strong></a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/retalix-ltd/rtlx/nas">RTLX</a>) warned that it would <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/02/retalix-rtlx-threes-strikes-and-you-are-out/">miss earnings estimates</a> again this quarter. </li>
</ul>
<p>Also, Jim Cramer thinks that <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/02/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-semis-downgrade-ignores-killer-fourth/">downgrades of tech stocks</a> don't make sense in light of their strong fourth quarter, but <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/01/earnings-expected-to-take-a-tumble/">analysts seem to be pessimistic</a> in general about earnings forecasts. Ted Allrich thinks this is the <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/02/tis-the-season-to-be-cautious/">wrong time to ignore financial stocks</a>, despite recent losses.</p>
<p>Upcoming results to watch for include <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/alcoa-inc/aa/nys">Alcoa Inc.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/alcoa-inc/aa/nys">AA</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/kb-home/kbh/nys">KB Home</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/kb-home/kbh/nys">KBH</a>).</p>
