What's that coming down the road? The creepy Burger King, leading a charge of restaurateurs offering video games as incentives.Blame the success of the recent Burger King (NYSE:BKC) promotion, offering Xbox games, featuring the King himself, for $3.99 with the purchase of a Value Meal. The games, Pocketbike Racer, Big Bumpin', and Sneak King, have sold in excess of 3.2 million copies, according to its recent second-quarter report. The campaign is credited with helping drive same-period sales up 9% over the previous year.
The three games were also the best-selling collection for the Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) game platform during the recent Christmas season, which must have the MSFT people smiling as well.
What's next in the monkey-see, monkey-do world of marketing? A Wii deathmatch between Ronald McDonald and Wendy? Hoofing with the fast-food stars, with the Colonel, Papa John and Jared as snarky judges?
Or, perhaps, Microsoft will start including hamburgers in every Xbox.
