The creepy Burger King, leading a charge of restaurateurs offering <a href="http://kotaku.com/gaming/burger-king/burger-king-games-rival-gears-of-war-sales-223417.php">video games as incentives.</a><br /><br />Blame the <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/local/sfl-zburger31jan31,0,5575402.story?coll=sfla-business-front">success</a> of the recent Burger King <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/burger-king-holdings-inc/bkc/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">(NYSE:BKC)</a> promotion, offering Xbox games, featuring the King himself, for $3.99 with the purchase of a Value Meal. The games, <a href="http://www.bkgamer.com/">Pocketbike Racer, Big Bumpin', and Sneak King</a>, have sold in excess of 3.2 million copies, according to its <a href="http://www.bk.com/">recent second-quarter report.</a> The campaign is credited with helping drive same-period sales up 9% over the previous year.<br /><br />The three games were also the best-selling collection for the Microsoft Corp. <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">(NASDAQ:MSFT)</a> game platform during the recent Christmas season, which must have the MSFT people smiling as well. <br /><br />What's next in the monkey-see, monkey-do world of marketing? A Wii deathmatch between Ronald McDonald and Wendy? <em>Hoofing with the fast-food stars</em>, with the Colonel, Papa John and Jared as snarky judges? <br /><br />Or, perhaps, Microsoft will start including hamburgers in every Xbox.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/01/31/burger-king-xbox-games-driving-traffic/">Burger King: Xbox games driving traffic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 31 Jan 2007 15:34:00 EST.
