If you think this stock won't be rising too far in the coming months, then it could be a good time to look at a bearish hedged play on CNQ.</p>
<p>This morning, CNQ opened at $40.61. So far today the stock has hit a high of $41.84 and a low of $40.42. As of 12:15, CNQ is trading at $41.15, down $1.95 (-4.5%). As a result I'm removing the stand aside view, and I think it's prudent to consider the shares again here.</p>
<p>CNQ's four-month dance with the key, <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=cnq&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details%3fSymbol%3daet">50-day moving average</a> this summer was a danger sign, from a technical standpoint, but the calculation here is that at $36, the shares will likely not test $30 gain. Three plunges to about $30 held support, and the chart has formed a double-bottom.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/20/has-canadian-natural-resources-put-in-a-bottom-at-30/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Has Canadian Natural Resources Put in a Bottom at $30?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/20/has-canadian-natural-resources-put-in-a-bottom-at-30/">Has Canadian Natural Resources Put in a Bottom at $30?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 20 Oct 2010 16:00:00 EST. Further, analysts still see impressive margins from CNQ's Canadian oil sands operations, despite the province of Alberta's oil/gas royalties increases. CNQ is also one of the largest undeveloped land holders in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, with nearly 12.8 million acres. The company also has proved reserves of 1.3 billion barrels of oil and 3.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/04/14/canadian-natural-resources-is-the-north-of-the-border-oil-play/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Canadian Natural Resources is the north-of-the-border oil play</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/04/14/canadian-natural-resources-is-the-north-of-the-border-oil-play/">Canadian Natural Resources is the north-of-the-border oil play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 14 Apr 2008 17:31:00 EST. Here's a look at his top oil plays.</p>
<p>He observes, "The hedgers at the NYMEX are protecting their crude oil positions in ways that indicate they see continuing upward pressure on prices." </p>
<p>Based on this hedging activity, he states, "The outlook for the next 12 expiration months that the by major players at the crude oil table suggest little lasting price weakness, and a general level prevailing above $70 over the remainder of the year."</p>
<p>What are the best stocks to buy to bet on the trend for firm oil prices? To decide, Peter Way looks at the buying patterns of market makers -- the big boys on the trading floor.</p>
<p>From their positions, he notes, "Among the large oil producers, China's <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cnooc-ltd-ads/ceo/nys">CNOOC, Ltd.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cnooc-ltd-ads/ceo/nys">CEO</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/canadian-natural-resources-limited/cnq/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Canadian Natural Resources, Ltd.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/canadian-natural-resources-limited/cnq/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">CNQ</a>), and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/suncor-energy-inc/su/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Suncor Energy</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/suncor-energy-inc/su/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">SU</a>) all combine historically strong odds and payoffs."</p>
<p>In addition, he notes positive market maker activity among oil exploration &amp; production stocks. He explains, "With significant quantities of low-cost reserves already found, and prospects for additional finds tied up, these companies inevitably will get acquired by bigger producers whose customer demands exceed their yearly reserve findings." </p>
<p>For many, he says, it's just a matter of time. Notable stocks in the stock, he adds, are <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/holly-corporation/hoc/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Holly Corp.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/holly-corporation/hoc/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">HOC</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/carrizo-oil-and-gas-inc/crzo/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">Carrizo Oil &amp; Gas</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/carrizo-oil-and-gas-inc/crzo/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">CRZO</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/range-resources-corporation/rrc/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Range Resources</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/range-resources-corporation/rrc/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">RRC</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/southwestern-energy-company/swn/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Southwest Energy</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/southwestern-energy-company/swn/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">SWN</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/ultra-petroleum-corp/upl/ase?tabs=quotesandnews">Ultra Petroleum</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/ultra-petroleum-corp/upl/ase?tabs=quotesandnews">UPL</a>), and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/talisman-energy-inc/tlm/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Talisman Energy</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/talisman-energy-inc/tlm/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">TLM</a>).</p>
