Consider the gift of server/desktop virtualization software solutions designer Citrix Systems Inc. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/citrix-systems-inc/ctxs/nas">CTXS</a>), whose stock continues to advance, as expected. And it goes without saying that I'm reiterating my buy rating for the company's shares, first recommended <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/07/citrix-systems-steady-uptrend/#continued">on June 16, 2009</a> at a price of $33.09. <span style="font-style: italic;">TheStreet.com's Jim Cramer says these stocks have become too expensive without takeovers and a more robust economy. </span><br /><br /> One after another after another, these software charts are amazing. And, I might add, a bit scary. How did <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/mcafee-inc/mfe/nys">McAfee</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/mcafee-inc/mfe/nys">MFE</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=MFE">Cramer's Take</a>) make that kind of move just on security software? Didn't <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">Microsoft</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">MSFT</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=MSFT">Cramer's Take</a>) just say -- admittedly for the 4 millionth time -- that it was going to give away free anti-virus software? Or <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/citrix-systems-inc/ctxs/nas">Citrix</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/citrix-systems-inc/ctxs/nas">CTXS</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=CTXS">Cramer's Take</a>)? What's that all about? How could it return to those levels? <br /><br /> There were rumors of a <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cisco-systems-inc/csco/nas">Cisco</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cisco-systems-inc/csco/nas">CSCO</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=CSCO">Cramer's Take</a>) takeover a week or two ago, and, amazingly, when it didn't come true, the stock hung in. <p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/06/15/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-techs-unjustified-super-bull-market-r/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cramer on BloggingStocks: Tech's unjustified super bull market run </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/06/15/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-techs-unjustified-super-bull-market-r/">Cramer on BloggingStocks: Tech's unjustified super bull market run </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 15 Jun 2009 09:50:00 EST. <p><strong><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/broadcom-corporation/brcm/nas">Broadcom</a></strong> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/broadcom-corporation/brcm/nas">BRCM</a>) <a href="http://www.marketintelligencecenter.com/articles/752522">reports tonight</a> and it is getting hit due to the poor report from <strong><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/qualcomm-incorporated/qcom/nas">Qualcomm</a></strong> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/qualcomm-incorporated/qcom/nas">QCOM</a>). QCOM lowered guidance quite a bit -- in fact, enough that I likely may not have to worry much about QCOM for the next couple quarters. Low $30's would present solid value. <br /><br />Getting back to BRCM, I still feel it is one of the few must own chip names. I think it has enough innovation and diversification to avoid the 35-40% sequential reductions I am seeing from many in the chip space. However, I also think a lowering of the bar is priced into BRCM's shares and anything less than a disaster should keep the stock above $16.50 (assuming we avoid another shock down to the whole market). Anything around that level ($16.50) and lower would have me adding the shares. I've taken gains recently in trading shares and am hoping to add BRCM back on just a bit more weakness. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/01/29/chipmaker-earnings-and-other-top-tech-news/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chipmaker earnings and other top tech news</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/01/29/chipmaker-earnings-and-other-top-tech-news/">Chipmaker earnings and other top tech news</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 15:00:00 EST. <p><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="0" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.bloggingstocks.com/media/2007/09/flag_nyse.jpg" alt="" />Through my career I've generally stayed apolitical with regard to investment and trading decisions, but there have been times when some higher percentage trades have presented themselves due to political circumstances. Examples include: the tech push in Clinton's second term, the defense sector after Bush's 2000 victory, as well as the oil patch. Based on that, here are some overriding thoughts, in no particular order.</p>
<li>The market has moved to the phase where many if not most participants want and expect a pullback. Since the market confounds the greatest number of players most of the time, is a big pullback a lower probability event now? Moreover, does the selling panic of much of October turn into a buying panic in the coming weeks and months? I'm letting the charts lead me here but aware that this bullish case could possibly trump terrible economic conditions. </li>
<p> </p>
<li>I still think the alt energy patch (solar, wind, battery tech, clean coal) will produce some of the best winners, but a lot of easy money has been made in just days. Quality and fundamentals will likely count much more now than over the past few months. Also, extended runs may become vulnerable quickly if policy decisions do not show quick tangible follow-through. Companies with the best balance sheets and funding sources will benefit the most and have the least downside on sharp technical pullbacks. </li>
