Sometimes I'm just at a loss with some of the big corporations' practices and tactics. Here are the facts as reported in the wire: A small bar in Des Moines has a special night every Monday where patrons share iPod music. The operator, Clint Curtis, calls it "iPod Monday." Somehow, I guess, news of this evening arrived at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). A representative on behalf of Apple sent a letter to Curtis, telling him to stop using the name 'iPod,' thus, renaming the evening.

It just seems to me that every company that has 'coolness' attached to it, will sooner or later destroy it and join the old-boy school of thought. Such happened with Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) and its several ridiculous lawsuits, and such is happening with Apple.

This, more than anything, is difficult to understand though. Curtis claims that at most 45 people come to iPod Monday, making it difficult to see why Apple would be concerned. Moreover, the name doesn't suggest infringement of any sort, but rather a promotion of the product. A free promotion at that.

It is just too bad some people have got nothing better to do than this. I'd think that Jobs would be more concerned now with his own "little" problems, than this really little bar in Des Moines.
