- RBC Capital upgraded Fidelity National (FIS) to outperform from sector perform. The firm upgraded the stock due to valuation, and its belief that the company will clear up issues related to its merger on its Analyst Day, scheduled for Dec. 7. The firm set a $28 target on the stock.
- Citigroup upgraded Smith International (SII) to buy from hold, citing the sell-off in shares following its 28M share equity offering. Note that Smith International priced 28M shares Tuesday at $26.50.
- Wells Fargo upgraded DynCorp (DCP) to outperform from market perform. The firm upgraded the stock on valuation, and because it believes that the impact on DynCorp of a possible indictment of PWC will be minimal, if any.
- Rockwell (ROK) was upgraded to overweight from neutral at HSBC.
- Omega Healthcare (OHI) was upgraded to outperform from market perform at JMP Securities.
- Analog Devices (ADI) was upgraded to conviction buy from buy at Goldman.

The week in preview: DynCorp, Joy Global, Shanda and more
Much of the attention this week will no doubt be on how the impending General Motors (NYSE: GM) bankruptcy will shake out, as well as the usual economic concerns: Has the housing market bottomed? Will oil prices keep rising? Is the employment situation getting any better? And so on (see highlights of the economic calendar below).
What probably won't get much attention are quarterly earnings, as the earnings season for this quarter winds down. But there are a few reports that analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters have high hopes for.

MOST NOTEWORTHY: ATP Oil & Gas, Foot Locker, DynCorp and Circuit City were today's noteworthy upgrades:- Calyon upgraded shares of ATP Oil & Gas (NASDAQ: ATPG) to Add from Neutral and raised their target to $52 from $50 as they believe the company is nearing its year-end production target and its balance sheet is positioned to improve.
- Merrill upgraded Foot Locker (NYSE: FL) to Buy from Neutral citing easing comps and stabilization in premium product demand.
- Wachovia upgraded DynCorp International Inc. (NYSE: DCP) to Outperform from Market Perform citing its re-compete award for the $4.6 billion Army Linguist contract.
- Soleil upgraded shares of Circuit City Stores (NYSE: CC) to Buy from Hold, as they believe the company's real estate rationalization program and new "The City" store concept will drive earnings growth over the next few years.
- StatoilHydro (NYSE: STO) was raised to Hold from Sell at Societe Generale.

MOST NOTEWORTHY: The semiconductor sector, Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX) and Federal National Mortgage Association (NYSE: FNM) were today's noteworthy upgrades: - Bernstein upgraded the semiconductor sector to Overweight form Market Weight on expectations that utilization will rise starting in Q2. The firm upgraded ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ: ASML) to Outperform from Market Perform and Infineon Technologies (NYSE: IFX) to Market Perform from Underperform.
- UBS upgraded Quest Diagnostics to Buy from Neutral, citing Laboratory Corporation Of America Holdings' (NYSE: LH) contract renewal with Cigna HealthCare, which should ease concerns regarding deteriorating pricing.
- Fannie Mae was upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform at Friedman Billings, citing improving fundamentals, better business mix and the possibility the company reports current financials in the next 12-18 months.
- Mediacom Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: MCCC) was upgraded to Neutral at Pali Capital, as the firm does not see a major catalyst to drive down shares.
- Soleil upgraded shares of ICU Medical Inc (NASDAQ: ICUI) to Buy from Hold.
- DynCorp International Inc (NYSE: DCP) was upgraded to Outperformer from Sector Performer at CIBC World Markets.
