Forbes has recognized Markos Moulitsas Zuniga (a.k.a. Kos), founder of DailyKos, as a Web Celeb. Kos has used his DailyKos to create an entirely new political constituency, the netroots.

With average weekday traffic of about 500,000 visits, and between 14 million and 24 million visits per month, Kos has pulled together many citizens who share a progressive philosophy. And he's shaped elections -- for example, DailyKos is credited with helping Ned Lamont win last fall's Connecticut Senatorial primary.

Political blogs will play a bigger role than ever during in the 2008 presidential campaign. They'll serve as a place for the candidates to woo new voters; suggest policies and platforms for candidates; liveblog debates and key speeches; provide links to data and analysis that will feed political debate; and post incriminating videos of opposition candidates.

Blogs like DailyKos are at the heart of our Democratic process. And they're taking that process in a new direction, while reinforcing its timeless values.
