The New York Times has outed the man behind the hilarious Fake Steve blog. It turns out it's been Daniel Lyon, a senior editor at Forbes, who has been writing a satirical blog from the perspective of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs.
According to the newspaper, "The mysterious writer has used his blog, the Secret Diary of Steve Jobs, to lampoon Mr. Jobs and his reputation as a difficult and egotistical leader, as well as to skewer other high-tech companies, tech journalists, venture capitalists, open-source software fanatics and Silicon Valley's overall aura of excess."
I really like the Fake Steve blog. And I'm happy to report that Steve Jobs doesn't seem to care at all about the blog lampooning him. He even admits to reading it on occasion, and reportedly didn't care when he found out who was behind it. I guess Jobs is too busy running an extremely successful, profitable business to worry about such things.
