Booming sales of the Ford Figo helped Ford India post a 184% growth in sales in 2010. This helped Ford compete globally with automakers like GM (GM), Daimler (DKX), Honda (HMC), Toyota (TM), Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and others. We believe Ford's transformed position in India and its aggressive growth plans can provide significant upside potential to Ford's stock value.

We have a price estimate of $20.59, which is around 42% above the current market price.

Continue reading Ford's Investment in India Is Paying Off

Ford's Investment in India Is Paying Off originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 31 Mar 2011 15:55:00 EST. With the help of the U.S. government, the company managed to restructure its business and emerge as a stronger company, even reporting a profit for the second half of 2010. The new GM commenced operations on July 10, 2009, after it completed the acquisition of substantially all of the assets and assumed certain liabilities of the old GM through a 363 Sale under the Bankruptcy Code. GM is now focusing its resources upon four core brands: Cadillac, GMC, Buick and Chevrolet and competes with players like Toyota (TM), Honda (HMC), Ford (F), Daimler, Volkswagen and Hyundai.

Continue reading GM Market Share Recovery Supports $45 Value

GM Market Share Recovery Supports $45 Value originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 21 Mar 2011 13:20:00 EST. Sirius and XM merged in July 2008 to form Sirius XM Satellite Radio Inc. The company offers over 180 channels comprising of commercial free music, sports, talk shows, news stations amongst others. Sirius XM radio channels are mainly available in automobiles but can also be accessed over the Internet or through home stereos by using various accessories. The firm's satellite radios are primarily distributed through automakers, retail locations and through its website.

Sirius XM has ties with major automobile manufacturers such as Ford (F), General Motors (GM) and Toyota (TM). This helps drive its presence in the U.S. automobile space. In addition satellite radio services are also offered to customers of certain rental car companies.

Continue reading Coverage Launch: Sirius XM Radio

Coverage Launch: Sirius XM Radio originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 14 Mar 2011 12:30:00 EST. Jobless claims rose again in the US, China's trade data was weak, headlines hit about demonstrators being fired upon in Saudi Arabia, and even lower oil prices failed to boost the mood. Treasury bond prices even rallied on a day when bond guru Bill Gross said he was effectively out of the Treasury buying now and on a day when we saw a record monthly government deficit, and gold was lower as the dollar rallied. Moody's also downgraded Spain yet again.
GM posted four straight profitable quarters under Liddell and successfully pulled off a major IPO after repairing massive accounting issues. GM said Treasurer Dan Ammann will replace Liddell. If you think this stock won't be rising too far in the coming months, then it could be a good time to look at a bearish hedged play on GM.

And the view remains -- stand aside.

Like most new and/or restructured companies, GM needs to amass at least four, and preferably eight quarters of earnings history under its belt, before one can form a meaningful analysis regarding the company's prospects. Of course, there are exceptions, but these are rare. But GM is not one.

Continue reading General Motors: For Now, Stand Aside

General Motors: For Now, Stand Aside originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Fri, 11 Feb 2011 17:30:00 EST.
For those not into football, the ads in the Super Bowl game can be more amusing than the game itself as advertising teams compete for attention, show their best efforts and even get rated by numerous online sites. These funds spent huge amounts from 2002 to 2007 on buyouts and they want to get some liquidity, as well as pay down debt.

Well, based on today's trading, private equity firms should definitely be optimistic. Nielsen priced its IPO at $23, which was above its $20 to $22 price range (raising about $1.9 billion). The stock is now up to $25. In fact, this is the biggest private-equity IPO since 2006.

Continue reading Nielsen IPO Gets a Good Rating from Investors

Nielsen IPO Gets a Good Rating from Investors originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Wed, 26 Jan 2011 11:30:00 EST. They know very little, maybe nothing, but they see the stock market can make them money, big money. It can also take all their money and never even say thank you. If you're just starting out as an investor, follow these guidelines to help you minimize your mistakes and maximize your money.

First, understand that you are stepping into a world many have spent decades deciphering. You are a novice. You know nothing about the landmines that lie beneath. There are many and they can (and will) explode at any moment, usually the moments when you least expect them. Investing is fraught with danger like bankruptcies (even huge companies ... see GM), crooked management (very rare but when caught, very expensive ... to you), and many other disappointments that will cause sleepless nights. They push to their breaking points, then move in the opposite direction. We saw it clearly in the '90s when there was no end to up (except there was and we abruptly hit it in 2000). In 2008, it felt like there was no end to down. But we now know there is. Things are picking up, and there are numbers to prove it.

Don't be the last to figure out we're in an economic recovery. Sitting on the sidelines, waiting for one more chance to buy a stock at the bargain price you saw in March of 2009 isn't going to happen. Times have changed. The U.S. economy is on the mend.

Continue reading Comfort Zone Investing: Can You Feel the Pendulum Swinging?

Comfort Zone Investing: Can You Feel the Pendulum Swinging? originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Sat, 15 Jan 2011 10:30:00 EST. Shares tried to have a positive day yet again for the second trading day of the year but the tone was very mixed despite a higher DJIA close at a two-year high. Gold saw major selling, as did most other commodities. This was a positive day for the DJIA, but the S&P and NASDAQ looked weak at the close.
They've been hit hard the last three years, pounded by a slow economy. But now things are starting to change, and if you believe the worst is over, then these sectors should see good advances in 2011.

Car Companies: They're hiring. Toyota Motors (TM) just announced the re-opening of its Mississippi plant after being dormant for two years. It needs 2,000 workers. GM (GM) is hiring 1,000 engineers and researchers in Michigan over the next two years focused on hybrid and electric cars. Chrysler is looking for 1,000 engineers and others to create small and midsize vehicles in its partnership with Italy's Fiat. Fiat controls Chrysler. Ford is the most healthy of the U.S. producers, having never touched government funds.

Continue reading Comfort Zone Investing: Two Industries Set to Recover in 2011

Comfort Zone Investing: Two Industries Set to Recover in 2011 originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Sat, 01 Jan 2011 10:30:00 EST. The markets whipped around all day. A huge regional business spending gain in Chicago and the first sub-400,000 weekly jobless claims failed to give us any further runaway days. That was despite also having a positive housing figure.

After less than a handful of red S&P closes in December, the markets were soft most of the day and a late-day rally made the red or black verdict for the market something one couldn't predict until right at the close.

Here were today's closing bell levels:

Dow Jones 11,569.71 -15.67 (-0.14%)
S&P 500 1,257.88 -1.90 (-0.15%)
Nasdaq 2,662.98 -3.95 (-0.15%)
Continue reading Closing Bell: Right Down to the Wire!
