After reading
this analysis by Robert Cringely of PBS, it makes one wonder what the aspirations of Google inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG) really are these days. Does the company want to become the largest advertising entity in the world regardless of medium, or does it want all traffic to pass through its doors so that it can learn a little about all Internet customers and use that information to its own benefit?
The fact that Google controls so many fiber miles of Internet connections (most not being used right this second) -- more than anyone else -- and that it is
building data centers globally (Oregon, South Carolina, Amsterdam) that are massive in scale and packed with thousands of servers makes one wonder what the search giant is up to. Google is notorious for secrecy, and all this infrastructure they are putting in place sounds intriguing. Could this really all be used for search advertising and serving up ads on the Internet, radio and television -- or is there more to it all?
You'd have to buy gullible to ignore the facts here, but Google is up to something. What that is probably is not known outside of Google's triumvirate of leaders: CEO Eric Schmidt and co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Would a world that revolved around Google be a good or bad thing? Think about it and leave a comment after traversing this
source story.
