Nevertheless, it is the type of stock that many hold for the long term; it doesn't necessarily force one to put a lot of weight on any single three-month period. It's a story of brands, a thesis based on consumers and supermarket shelves. The future cash flows derived from these elements is what drives an investor to buy this company. </p>
<p>There's nothing wrong with keeping tabs on the business, though. According to the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/costs-to-combine-cadbury-cut-into-kraft/1580338/">Associated Press</a>, Kraft made, on an adjusted basis (the Cadbury purchase was involved in the adjustment process), 46 cents per share in the fourth quarter. This was a penny less than a year ago. The consensus estimate was for net income to come in at 46 cents per share. Yes, management failed to rise above the projection.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/11/kraft-earnings-dont-excite-but-yield-remains-attractive/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kraft Earnings Don't Excite, but Yield Remains Attractive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/11/kraft-earnings-dont-excite-but-yield-remains-attractive/">Kraft Earnings Don't Excite, but Yield Remains Attractive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 11 Feb 2011 09:45:00 EST. <p>Processors who buy raw commodities and process them into consumer products are caught is in a price squeeze. <p>Given that stock markets all around the world were up yesterday, including ours -- again ... <em>April Fool's Day!</em> -- even day traders expressed confidence because they obviously were willing to hold stocks knowing the long weekend left plenty of time for unforeseen bad news to to slam their positions.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/02/serious-money-dow-top-ten-if-only-the-market-was-open/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Serious Money: Dow Top Ten -- If Only the Market Was Open</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/02/serious-money-dow-top-ten-if-only-the-market-was-open/">Serious Money: Dow Top Ten -- If Only the Market Was Open</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 02 Apr 2010 13:20:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/best-buy-incorporated/bby/nys">BBY</a>), ConAgra Foods Inc. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/conagra-foods-inc/cag/nys">CAG</a>), Oracle Corp. (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/oracle-corporation/orcl/nas">ORCL</a>) and Walgreen Co. (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/walgreen-co/wag/nys">WAG</a>), all of which are expected to post earnings and revenue growth, according to analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters. Below is a closer look at a few other companies reporting this week for which expectations are high.</p>
<p>In the three months that ended in January, <strong>Williams-Sonoma</strong> (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/williams-sonoma-inc/wsm/nys">WSM</a>) saw <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/williams-sonoma-inc-announces-a-7-4percent-increase-in-2009-holiday-revenues-and-raises-fourth-quarter-and-fiscal-year-2009-revenues-and-eps-guidance/rfid289140017/?channel=pf">strong holiday sales</a>, declared <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/williams-sonoma-inc-declares-quarterly-cash-dividend/rfid282680231/?channel=pf">a quarterly dividend</a>, and announced the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/williams-sonoma-inc-announces-that-howard-lester-chairman-and-ceo-will-retire-in-may-2010-after-leading-the-company-for-31-years/rfid293171155/?channel=pf">retirement of its CEO</a>. Analysts expect the San Francisco-based home products retailer to report that fiscal fourth-quarter earnings more than doubled from the same period of last year to $0.74 per share. Revenue for the period is expected to be 6.2% higher to $1.1 billion. For the full year, the forecast calls for earnings of $0.81 per share (+56.8%) on $3.1 billion in revenue (-8.3%). Williams-Sonoma earnings results have been better than expected in recent quarters -- beating consensus estimates by more than 200% in the third quarter.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/21/the-week-in-preview-eye-on-general-mills-tiffany-williams-son/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Week in Preview: Eye on General Mills, Tiffany, Williams-Sonoma and more</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/21/the-week-in-preview-eye-on-general-mills-tiffany-williams-son/">The Week in Preview: Eye on General Mills, Tiffany, Williams-Sonoma and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 21 Mar 2010 12:00:00 EST. Kraft had to increase its offer, injecting more cash into the bid to win over the 186-year-old Cadbury, which has finally surrendered its independence and accepted the sweetened offer.<br /><br />Kraft's offer is 840 pence per Cadbury share, with shareholders also getting a 10 pence special dividend, bringing the offer to a total of 850 pence per share. The new bid has won unanimous recommendation from the Cadbury board. Cadbury shares hit a record high of 838 pence in early trade in London and jumped over 5% to $54.63 in premarket trading.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/19/sweet-surrender-cadbury-accepts-new-kraft-offer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sweet Surrender: Cadbury Accepts New Kraft Offer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/19/sweet-surrender-cadbury-accepts-new-kraft-offer/">Sweet Surrender: Cadbury Accepts New Kraft Offer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 09:00:00 EST. "This is one of the times when I love being in the food business. This is a market that, whatever happens in the economy, people still eat. And we have a range of products to serve everybody's needs," explained Lorna Davis, the company's president of operations in China. "Opportunities here are just huge," she added.</p>
<p>The projected 10% sales growth for 2009 roughly corresponds with Kraft's 2008 sales results in China. The food firm plans to maintain its healthy pace of expansion by way of a 20% boost to advertising spending. "If you want to build your business here and you don't spend more than 10 percent of your total revenue on advertising, you are not going to grow," asserted Davis.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/06/05/kraft-foods-hikes-ad-budget-to-maintain-growth-in-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kraft Foods hikes ad budget to maintain growth in China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/06/05/kraft-foods-hikes-ad-budget-to-maintain-growth-in-china/">Kraft Foods hikes ad budget to maintain growth in China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 05 Jun 2009 11:45:00 EST.
