Paul McCartney planning farewell tour for his young daughter

Paul McCartney is reportedly set to announce plans for a massive world tour that will also be his last before settling down and spending more time with young daughter Beatrice. According to the Sunday Mirror, the 100 shows planned for the two-year long tour will garner McCartney over £1,000,000 (nearly $2,000,000) each, in what is being touted as "one of the biggest rock tours of all time." The tour resembles McCartney's 1989-1990 tour where he played 108 shows across the globe.

McCartney's last world tour six years ago saw him earn £63million in over half the number of shows. The upcoming tour went into planning stages after McCartney's divorce from Heather Mills was finalized in March. Beatrice, his child with Mills, is four now and according to sources he does not want to be away for long periods of time during her childhood. Following the tour's completion he plans to "settle down" and it "will be the last time he performs in many parts of the world."

The former Beatle's world tours tend to stray into other areas than simple concert shows and money from ticket and merchandise sales. The tour six years ago was also released and celebrated with two live albums, one for the American market and one for international markets. A live DVD was also released, but his last tour of the United States also received a DVD release in 2006. The possibility of this tour being in the public awareness for much longer than two years is obviously probable. McCartney and his management plan to announce the first dates and legs of the tour in a matter of weeks.

McCartney planning massive world tour in wake of divorce

In the wake of his nasty divorce, Paul McCartney and his management are in the process of planning a massive world tour for next fall including shows in the United States. According to British newspaper NME, McCartney is also preparing to debut a large amount of new material on the tour, which will undoubtedly also feature material from his most recent album Memory Almost Full after McCartney played only limited venues last summer for its promotion. The pending tour will be the largest of its size for McCartney in nearly three years, after he toured in promotion of his 2006 Grammy Award winning album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.

The announcement that a tour is in the planning stages comes nearly a month after a British court awarded McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills a nearly $49 million divorce settlement, granting her about $34,000 a day for their marriage. McCartney's separation from Mills began in the summer of 2006, and the divorce included security matters and details related to the pair's daughter.
