Option update 6-12-07: Seagate -- renewed LBO chatter

Seagate (NYSE: STX) -- July calls active at Elevated volatility on renewed Speculation. STX designs, manufactures and markets rigid disc drives. STX is up $0.09 cents to $20.94 on renewed LBO chatter. STX has a market cap of $11.2 billion and long-term debt of $1.7 billion. STX reported annual 2006 revenue of $9.2 billion. Brean Murray has a Hold rating on STX. STX call option volume of 17,889 contracts compares to put volume of 2,862 contracts. STX July option implied volatility of 41 is above its 26-week average of 34 according to Track Data, suggesting larger price risks.

Neurochem (NASDAQ: NRMX) option implied volatility suggests Risk into Data. NRMX is recently down $0.13 to $6.68. PIPR lowered its price target to $4.00 from $6.50. NRMX first phase three study of its Alzheimer treatment drug, Alzhemed is expected to be release between now and the end of the quarter. NRMX July option implied volatility is above 215 according to Track Data, indicating large price fluctuations. NRMX puts are more expensive than calls because NRMX is difficult to borrow.

Option update 6-11-07: Best Buy implied volatility Flat into EPS

Best Buy Inc. (NYSE: BBY) -- implied volatility suggests flat risk into EPS. BBY is expected to report EPS on 6/19. Goldman Sachs Group says "quarter likely light; still like longer-term." GS goes on to say "management can blunt the blow of choppy earnings by clarifying and rationalizing its capital allocation, deploying more of the firm's cash against buybacks, and reining in its diversification initiatives." BBY over all option implied volatility of 29 is near its 26-week average of 30 according to Track Data, suggesting non-directional risk.

MasterCard Inc. (NYSE: MA) -- implied volatility reflects low risk on litigation concerns. MA, a global payment solutions company, is recently trading down $2.02 to $141.63 on litigation concerns. MA July option implied volatility of 34 is below its 26-week average of 36 according to Track Data, indicating decreasing price fluctuations.

Option update 4-11-07: CCU options suggests deal will be approved at $37.60

Clear Channel Comm (NYSE: CCU) -- options priced as if shareholders will approve $37.60 buyout. CCU struck a deal to sell itself for $37.60 to Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital LLC in November of 2006. Two-thirds of CCU shareholders are needed to vote for the deal on 4/19 for the sale to be completed. CCU options are active today. CCU April 35 calls are priced as if CCU will be trading at $36.40 by 4/20. May, July and October are priced as if two-thirds of CCU's shareholders will approve the $37.60 sale.

Comcast (NASDAQ: CMSCK) -- option implied volatility suggests non-directional Risk into Rally. CMCSK is recently up $1.03 to $27.29. Bloomberg ran a story with a headline of "Comcast Chief Roberts says his business is 'On Fire'." CMCSK overall option implied volatility of 24 is near its 26-week average of 23 according to Track Data, suggesting non-directional risk.

Option volume leaders today are: Dendreon Corp. (NASDAQ: DNDN), Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA), General Electric (NYSE: GE) and Neurochem Inc. (NASDAQ: NRMX).

Volatility Index S&P 500 Options-VIX down .14 to 10.28.

Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) - puts more active than calls as prices increase on purchase for Hedges. Amazon was trading up .71 to $38.38 around 2 p.m.. Amazon is expected to report EPS of $0.22 after the close. Lazard has a Hold rating on Amazon said on 1/31/07, "At current price levels, we believe the stock largely discounts strong growth, operating margins expansion, and improving free cash flow generation." Amazon call option volume of 43,043 contracts compares to put volume of 60,717 contracts. Amazon February option implied volatility of 58 is above its 26-week average of 39 according to Track Data, suggesting larger price fluctuations.

Neurochem Inc.'s (NASDAQ:NRMX) May option implied volatility keeps Climbing into Spring Risks. Neurochem issued a press release this morning indicating results from the first phase 3 study of NRMX's Alzhemed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease is expected in the spring of 2007. Neurochem and partner Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) have a PDUFA date for Kiacta for AA Amyloidosis on 4/16/07. Neurochem call option volume of 4,859 contracts compares to put volume of 5,129 contracts. Neurochem May call option implied volatility is at 152; puts are above 211 according to Track Data, indicating large price fluctuations. NRMX puts are expensive because Neurochem is difficult to borrow.
