Anadarko already owns the remaining interest in the plant. <br />
<br />
Anadarko is the largest producer of natural gas in the Wattenberg field and the deal will provide Anadarko with 100% ownership of the plant. The company relies heavily on natural gas, which we estimate accounts for nearly 40% of its stock value. It vies for business with established oil and gas producers like Exxon Mobil, (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/exxon-mobil-corporation/xom/nys" class="inlinked">XOM</a>) ConocoPhillips (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/conocophillips/cop/nys" class="inlinked">COP</a>), Chevron (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/chevron-corporation/cvx/nys" class="inlinked">CVX</a>), BP (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/bp-p-l-c/bp/nys">BP</a>) and Duke (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/duke-energy-corporation/duk/nys" class="inlinked">DUK</a>).</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/30/anadarko-acquires-bp-wattenberg-adds-to-gas-assets/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Anadarko's Acquisition of BP's Wattenberg Adds to Gas Assets</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/30/anadarko-acquires-bp-wattenberg-adds-to-gas-assets/">Anadarko's Acquisition of BP's Wattenberg Adds to Gas Assets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 30 Mar 2011 16:45:00 EST. They will need a different energy source to replace their nuclear losses. Natural gas is one such energy source. Natural gas must be liquefied for transport. Much of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply could come from Europe.<br />
<p>
One company, Golar (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/company/golar-lng-limited-common-shares/glng/nas">GLNG</a>), has a fleet of transport ships that can carry LNG. Their ships have the capacity to dock at a port and transfer their LNG supply to an onshore receiving unit. Their ships have special units that can do the transfer operation. The fleet is capable of carrying 1.7 cubic meters of LNG.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/17/will-golars-fleet-of-lng-transport-ships-fill-japans-new-energ/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Will Golar's Fleet of LNG Transport Ships Fill Japan's New Energy Needs?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/17/will-golars-fleet-of-lng-transport-ships-fill-japans-new-energ/">Will Golar's Fleet of LNG Transport Ships Fill Japan's New Energy Needs?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 17 Mar 2011 09:30:00 EST. <br />
The background: Oil historically trades at about 8 times the price of natural gas. Currently it's trading at <a href="http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=$NATGAS">25.8 times</a> natural gas. About three months ago, the ratio was 20.<br />
<br />
In late Tuesday afternoon trading, oil (West Texas Intermediate) was up $3.60 to <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/light-sweet-crude-oil-futures-apr-2011-composite/%252fcl/j11/nym">$100.578 per barrel</a>, while natural gas was down 16 cents to $3.88 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/01/oil-and-natural-gas-the-anomaly-continues/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oil and Natural Gas: The Anomaly Continues</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/01/oil-and-natural-gas-the-anomaly-continues/">Oil and Natural Gas: The Anomaly Continues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 01 Mar 2011 18:00:00 EST. <br />
Oil/natural gas servicer Cameron is benefiting from the Obama's administration revised blowout preventer safety rules, as oil companies conform to the new standards. Cameron's orders increased 30% in the third quarter of 2010, compared to 2009.<br />
<br />
Further, new technology that's likely to increase natural gas drilling and production (via a new technique called hydraulic fracturing) in North America also holds the promise of increased valve business for CAM. And Cameron's recent purchase of Natco Group, an energy capital equipment company, will increase international business.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/17/cameron-international-remains-in-an-uptrend/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cameron International Remains in an Uptrend</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/17/cameron-international-remains-in-an-uptrend/">Cameron International Remains in an Uptrend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 17 Feb 2011 17:20:00 EST. <br />
Ferrellgas is the second largest seller of propane in the United States -- a fuel primarily used in areas where natural gas in not available or can not be easily transported to. <br />
<br />
Look for Ferrellas to post a nice 8-11% revenue gain in 2011, following a flattish 2010. The answer is yes. Why, you ask? Oil has been making new highs to $93.00 per barrel. This is pushing up the price of home heating oil. Natural gas, on the other hand, has stayed in the doldrums for the past year.<br />
<br />
So right off, you have a commodity that is making a long-term bottom. Here are several other factors making natural gas attractive:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Natural gas is a greener fuel than either coal or oil;</li>
    <li>Natural gas is cheap;</li>

Natural gas is transported in liquid form called liquefied natural gas (LNG). In its liquid form it can be transported anywhere in the world. To be useful, it must be converted back into gas form. This is done with floating regasification tankers, which will be increasing in demand over the next decade, according to <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-12-15/floating-lng-converters-biggest-new-thing-teekay-chief-says.html"><em>BloombergBusinessweek</em></a>. The tankers can dock at a gas pipeline terminal and pump the gas back into local pipelines. One company, Teekay (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/teekay-corporation/tk/nys">TK</a>) has such a tanker.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/16/floating-lng-converters-the-next-big-investment-play/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Floating LNG Converters: The Next Big Investment Play?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/16/floating-lng-converters-the-next-big-investment-play/">Floating LNG Converters: The Next Big Investment Play?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 16 Dec 2010 09:30:00 EST. Anadarko then walked down to about $34.50 before reversing, and the stock has basically doubled since, trading near $70 Tuesday. <p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/14/anadarko-stopped-out-for-small-gain/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Anadarko: Stopped-Out for Small Gain</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/14/anadarko-stopped-out-for-small-gain/">Anadarko: Stopped-Out for Small Gain</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 14 Dec 2010 17:40:00 EST. Pending regulatory approval,<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/general-electric-to-acquire-dresser-for/1315908/"> GE has penned a deal</a> to acquire Dresser Inc. for $3 billion, thus expanding its reach and capabilities in the realm of natural gas extraction and usage. Dresser's products include technology for gas engines, control and relief valves, measurement, regulation and control systems for gas and fuel distribution.<br />

This year, in particular, hedge funds have stepped up their exposure to commodities. Gold is a good example. Hedge funds have moved aggressively on the buy side during this past year.</p>
<p>More than ever, the movement of funds by hedge funds is controlling commodity prices. Hedge funds dumped 25% of their positions in natural gas in the week ending Sept. 28, as reported in <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-10-03/hedge-funds-cut-natural-gas-bets-by-25-percent-energy-markets.html"><em>BusinessWeek</em></a>.</p>
<p>The commodity exchanges publish a commitment of traders report, which tracks the number of long and short contracts. Net long positions fell by 17,373 to 51,306.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/04/hedge-funds-dump-natural-gas-contracts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hedge Funds Dump Natural Gas Contracts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/04/hedge-funds-dump-natural-gas-contracts/">Hedge Funds Dump Natural Gas Contracts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 04 Oct 2010 09:30:00 EST. That's what one firm is predicting.<br />
<br />
Canada-based FirstEnergy Capital Corp. lowered its 2010 average natural gas price forecast to $4.63 per million BTUs (MMBtu), down from $5 per MMBtu, calgaryherald.com <a href="http:// http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Investment+dealer+says+recovery+natural+prices+until+2012/3460037/story.html?cid=megadrop_story">reported Monday. </a><br />
<br />
FirstEnergy also lowered its average 2011 price to $4.75 per MMBtu. Among the factors likely to keep natural gas prices low: increased shale gas production in the United States.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/30/firm-sees-little-chance-for-natural-gas-price-recovery-before-20/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Firm Sees Little Chance for Natural Gas Price Recovery Before 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/30/firm-sees-little-chance-for-natural-gas-price-recovery-before-20/">Firm Sees Little Chance for Natural Gas Price Recovery Before 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 30 Aug 2010 15:30:00 EST. It proved to be a prudent warning, as CAM soon dropped from highs near $48 to about $31 in June, largely due to jitters about the deepwater <a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Offshore">offshore</a> oil drilling sector.<br />
<br />
However, Cameron has since popped back above the key, <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=cam&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details%3fSymbol%3daxp">50-day moving average,</a> and I obviously still like the shares here.<br />
<br />
Cameron should benefit from the Obama administration's likely, revised blowout preventer safety rules, as oil companies conform to the new standards.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/19/cameron-international-battle-tested-energy-services-play/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cameron International: Battle-Tested Energy Services Play</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/19/cameron-international-battle-tested-energy-services-play/">Cameron International: Battle-Tested Energy Services Play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 19 Aug 2010 16:40:00 EST. And investors can buy 30 natural gas stocks with one ETF: the First Trust ISE-Reserve Natural Gas ETF (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/first-trust-exchange-traded-fund-first-trust-ise-revere-natural-gas-index-fund-etf/fcg/nys">FCG</a>)," says <a href="http://www.100kportfolio.com/">Ian Wyatt</a>.<br />
<br />
The editor of <a href="http://www.100kportfolio.com/">The 100K Portfolio</a> explains, "There are many reasons for businesses, consumers, investors and politicians to be bullish on this commodity. Natural gas seemingly has everything we could want from an energy source - it's cheap, clean, and there is an abundance of it throughout our country.<br />
<br />
"For this very reason, ExxonMobil, the world's largest energy company, is acquiring one of the leading natural gas companies in the country - XTO Energy. <br />
<br />
The $41 billion acquisition will make ExxonMobil the single biggest producer of natural gas, solidifying the company's commanding position in the energy sector. Smart investors should follow Exxon's lead and look to gain exposure to natural gas today.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/07/first-trust-ise-reserve-natural-gas-etf-fcg-30-picks-in-one/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Trust ISE-Reserve Natural Gas (FCG): 30 Picks in One</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/07/first-trust-ise-reserve-natural-gas-etf-fcg-30-picks-in-one/">First Trust ISE-Reserve Natural Gas (FCG): 30 Picks in One</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 07 Jul 2010 15:00:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/transcanada-corporation/trp/nys">TRP</a>), which I first discussed <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/05/11/transcanada-corp-a-low-profile-natural-gas-play/">on May 11, 2009</a> at a price of $26.56, have cycled between $31 and $38 over the last four months or so, but I still like the business model. Here's why:<br />
<br />
TransCanada Corp. is natural gas play with promise: It's a natural gas transmission and storage company that also owns oil assets and electric power generation assets (including 19 wholly owned power plants). A solid $1.45 annual dividend adds to the positive story.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/07/transcanada-promising-natural-gas-play/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TransCanada: Promising Natural Gas Play</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/07/transcanada-promising-natural-gas-play/">TransCanada: Promising Natural Gas Play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 07 Jul 2010 10:30:00 EST.
