(<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/noble-corporation-baar/ne/nys">NE</a> - <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/noble-corporation-baar/ne/nys/option-chainshttp://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/noble-corporation-baar/ne/nys">option chain</a>) shares are rising today after Standard &amp; Poor's, a unit of McGraw-Hill (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/mcgraw-hill-companies-incorporat/mhp/nys">MHP</a>), announced <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/standard-and-poor-s-announces-changes-to-u-s-indices/rfid403782151/?channel=pf">NE will be added to its S&amp;P 500 Index</a> after the close of trading on Friday, replacing QLogic (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/qlogic-corporation/qlgc/nas">QLGC</a>). Addition to this index means that all the funds that track the index will need to add NE to their holdings, which is usually a positive thing for the stock. If you think that the stock won't fall by too much in the coming months, then now could be a good time to look at a bullish hedged trade on NE.<br />
<br />
NE opened this morning at $37.83. So far today the stock has hit a low of $37.37 and a high of $38.35. As of 12:30, NE is trading at $38.30 up $2.37 (6.6%). The chart for NE looks bullish and <a href="http://www.iotogo.com/spoutlookonline" target="_blank">S&amp;P</a> gives NE a positive 4 STARS (out of 5) buy ranking.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/12/noble-corp-will-be-added-to-sandp-500/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Noble Corp. This week will bring plenty more data for investors in and watchers of the sector to mull over. <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas">Apple Inc.</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas">AAPL</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/atandt-inc/t/nys">AT&amp;T Inc.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/atandt-inc/t/nys">T</a>), and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">Microsoft Corp.</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">MSFT</a>), for example, are expected by analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial to post modest earnings gains from a year ago, to $1.11 per share (on $8.1 billion in sales), $0.72 per share (on $31.3 billion in sales), and $0.47 per share (on $14.8 billion in sales) respectively. All three of these companies ended the week closer to their 52-week lows than highs, and analysts on average consider them each a buy. </p>

Investors push a stock past logical limits. A company seems about to break down or break out. These are just a few things that can signal a stock with attitude. And... that attitude can be good or bad for the stock price, since attitude always catches up with reality. At least on Wall Street, that is.</em><span style="font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial;"> <br /><br />Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/broadcom-corporation-cl-a/brcm/nas">BRCM)</a> was up $0.35 (+1.13%) Friday to close at $31.42 on just lower than average volume ahead of a late breaking <a href="http://today.reuters.com/news/articlehybrid.aspx?type=comktNews&amp;rpc=33&amp;storyid=2007-01-27T032005Z_01_WEN2944_RTRIDST_0_BROADCOM-PATENT-URGENT.XML">story</a>. A federal jury in San Diego found the company had not infringed on two patents for digital video compression owned by rival Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/qualcomm-incorporated/qcom/nas">QCOM</a>). Qualcomm was down $0.65 (-1.70%) to $37.51 in Friday trading. The technicals for BRCM have been negative for a while but a recent stock price pop may signal an improvement. Currently the company has an <a href="http://www.iotogo.com/spoutlookonline">S&amp;P</a> 2 STAR avoid rating. Out of the 22 other analysts who cover the stock, nine give it a strong buy, four a moderate buy, seven a hold, one a moderate sell, and one disconnected analyst gives the stock a strong sell. I wouldn't be surprised if some upgrades are announced in the coming hours and days.</span><span style="font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial;"><em><em><span style="font-family: Arial;" /></em></em></span></span><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/01/29/stocks-with-attitude-brcm-qcom-csco-cy-qlgc-pmcs-jnpr/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stocks with attitude: BRCM, QCOM, CSCO, CY, QLGC, PMCS, JNPR</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/01/29/stocks-with-attitude-brcm-qcom-csco-cy-qlgc-pmcs-jnpr/">Stocks with attitude: BRCM, QCOM, CSCO, CY, QLGC, PMCS, JNPR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 29 Jan 2007 09:03:00 EST.
