Closing Bell: Making It Seven Days Up (CNXT, TM, TSLA, EPD, BYD, EGPT, RHB)

China raised rates and US housing prices went down yet again. We even had yet another round of fund managers outed in the ongoing waves of insider trading charges. Somehow, some way, equities in the U.S. still made gains in what will be a seven day streak.

Here were Tuesday's unofficial closing bell levels:

Option Traders Buying Rehabcare Calls and Atmel Puts

Option traders appear to be setting up for a bullish move on Rehabcare Group Inc. (RHB). Traders plowed into 2,192 new call option contracts -- 18.9 times the average volume -- on the stock on Tuesday. And we know that traders were eager to get into this trade because 100% of the trades came in on the ask price.

Rehabcare is sitting just above support at $16. The stock closed Tuesday at $16.56, up 23.16% during the past month.

Analyst Upgrades

  • Stephens upgraded Martin Marietta (MLM) to overweight from equal weight on valuation and expectations that infrastructure and highway spending will increase. The firm raised its target on shares to $105 from $95.
  • Janney Montgomery upgraded Shutterfly (SFLY) to buy from neutral to reflect valuation and a reduced pricing overhang after Kodak (EK) raised its 4x6 prices. The firm raised its target on shares to $21 from $18.
  • Thomas Weisel upgraded Entropic Communications (ENTR) to overweight from market weight. The firm thinks the company is well-positioned for revenue growth in 2010, partly due to MoCA deployments from new customers and design wins for its silicon tuner product. The firm set a $5 target.
  • T. Rowe Price (TROW) was upgraded to buy from hold at Jefferies.
  • Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS) was upgraded to buy from neutral at BofA/Merrill.
  • Massey Energy (MEE) was upgraded to overweight from neutral at JPMorgan.

Analyst upgrades:
  • Deutsche Bank upgraded HealthSouth (NYSE: HLS) and Rehabcare (NYSE: RHB) to Buy from Hold after raising its Post Acute Care sector view to Positive from Neutral. The firm believes volumes and margin leverage can drive better than expected Q2 results and 2009 guidance. The firm raised its target on HealthSouth shares to $16 from $12 and on Rehabcare to $28 from $19.
  • Jefferies upgraded Moody's (NYSE: MCO) to Hold from Underperform to reflect stabilizing credit markets and its belief regulatory concerns are overstated. The firm raised its target on shares to $30 from $19.
  • Keefe Bruyette upgraded Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) to Outperform from Market Perform as it finds the stock inexpensive following the better than expected results. The firm has a $195 target on shares.
  • Vale (NASDAQ: VALE) was upgraded to Buy from Neutral at BofA/Merrill.
  • CNOOC (NYSE: CEO) was upgraded to Overweight from Equal Weight at Morgan Stanley.
  • International Game Tech (NYSE: IGT) was upgraded to Buy from Neutral at Janney Montgomery.

Analyst upgrades
  • Oppenheimer upgraded Savient Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: SVNT) to Perform from Underperform after the FDA's Arthritis Advisory Committee voted 14-1 in favor of approving Krystexxa for gout.
  • Banc of America/Merrill upgraded Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) to Buy from Underperform and raised its target to $27 from $18 based on expectations that margin expansion will be higher than Street expectations.
  • UBS said Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has limited downside risk given the improved outlook for the graphics processor market and professional solutions business. Shares were upgraded to Neutral from Sell and its target was raised to $11.50 from $8.
  • BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP) was upgraded to Outperform from Neutral at Macquarie.
  • Neutral Tandem (NASDAQ: TNDM) was upgraded to Outperform from Neutral at Baird.
  • Central Garden & Pet (NASDAQ: CENT) was upgraded to Buy from Neutral at SunTrust.
