It many ways it marked a formal "coming out" party, if you will, for emerging markets. It was a statement -- a confirmation -- of the the developing world's improved status in the early globalization era. It said, "We've arrived."

MSCI Brazil Index (NYSE-EWZ) is recently up 79c to $66.88. Rio de Janeiro Brazil and Madrid Spain are finalists for the 2016 Olympics. Brazil Bovespa Stock Index is recently up 0.56%. EWZ October option implied volatility is at 36, November and January is at 36; below its 26-week average of 43, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.
