Traditionally SAP competes with Oracle (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/oracle-corporation/orcl/nas" class="inlinked">ORCL</a>), Microsoft (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas" class="inlinked">MSFT</a>), Salesforce.com (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/salesforce-com-inc/crm/nys" class="inlinked">CRM</a>) and IBM (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/international-business-machines-corporation/ibm/nys" class="inlinked">IBM</a>) in the applications software market.</p>
<p>We maintain a <a href="https://www.trefis.com/company?hm=SAP.trefis&amp;">$64.85 price estimate for SAP stock</a>, which is about 15% higher than market price.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/23/saps-in-memory-technology-to-shake-up-database-market/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SAP's In-Memory Technology to Shake Up Database Market</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/23/saps-in-memory-technology-to-shake-up-database-market/">SAP's In-Memory Technology to Shake Up Database Market</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 23 Mar 2011 14:00:00 EST. On-demand is a fast growth market, in which SAP competes with players like Salesforce.com (<a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/cornerstone-total-return-fund/crf/ase">CRF</a>), Oracle (<a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/oracle-corporation/orcl/nas">ORCL</a>) and Microsoft (<a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">MSFT</a>).</p>
<p>We also discussed the prospects of in-memory technology and its potential advantages over traditional relational database technology, like competitor Oracle's Exadata machines.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/24/optimistic-outlook-for-sap-s-on-demand-market-prospects/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Optimistic Outlook for SAP's On-Demand Market Prospects</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/24/optimistic-outlook-for-sap-s-on-demand-market-prospects/">Optimistic Outlook for SAP's On-Demand Market Prospects</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 24 Feb 2011 17:30:00 EST. But some of the leaders have been in business for more than a decade. One is NetSuite (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/netsuite-inc-common-stock/n/nys">N</a>). The company develops enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, which helps companies manage inventory, payroll and other key financial functions.</p>
<p>And NetSuite continues to see traction. In its latest <a href="http://www.sys-con.com/node/1703248">earnings report</a>, revenues increased 21% to $52.1 million. For the year, revenues came to $193.1 million. Operating income was $3.5 million for fourth quarter.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/04/netsuite-makes-rain-from-the-cloud/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NetSuite Makes Rain from the Cloud</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/04/netsuite-makes-rain-from-the-cloud/">NetSuite Makes Rain from the Cloud</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 04 Feb 2011 12:00:00 EST. Traders plowed into 1,067 new <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Call%20Option" class="inlinked">call option</a> contracts -- 2.81 times the average volume -- on the stock on Thursday. And we know that traders were eager to get into this trade because 95% of the trades came in on the ask price.<br />
<br />
ProLogis looks like it formed a bottom in early July and has since formed a higher low in August. The stock closed Thursday at $10.92, down 0.18% during the past month.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/09/option-traders-buying-prologis-calls-and-lan-airlines-puts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Option Traders Buying ProLogis Calls and LAN Airlines Puts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/09/option-traders-buying-prologis-calls-and-lan-airlines-puts/">Option Traders Buying ProLogis Calls and LAN Airlines Puts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 09 Sep 2010 17:30:00 EST. While the company has solid cash flows and a massive customer base, the growth ramp has stalled. Of course, SAP is not alone. Other tech giants like Cisco (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/cisco-systems-inc/csco/nas">CSCO</a>), Intel (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/intel-corporation/intc/nas">INTC</a>) and Microsoft (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">MSFT</a>) have faced the same problem.</p>
<p>Yet, according to Bloomberg.com, SAP thinks it can <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-09-03/sap-sees-limitless-potential-in-chinese-market-co-ceo-mcdermott-says.html">rev things up again</a>. How? All fear-mongering aside, we see two very positive developments in the U.S. <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/category/economy/" class="inlinked">economy</a>: retail and corporate spending.</p>
<p><strong>1. Retail Spending</strong></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.icsc.org/" target="_blank">International Council of Shopping Centers</a> has announced that retail sales expanded at the highest pace since September 2006. Luxury retailers posted an eye-popping 8% rise in sales. Seems like <a target="_blank" href="http://wallstcheatsheet.com/breaking-news/the-number-one-reason-the-us-consumer-will-be-back/?p=9380/">consumption<em> is</em> our culture</a>. Some people think the U.S. consumer has changed. Personally, I would never bet against the DNA of a tribe ... and ours is shopping. As my brother Derek said, "In the Great Depression we had bread lines. Now, there are Apple (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked">AAPL</a>) <a target="_blank" href="http://wallstcheatsheet.com/breaking-news/video-wall-st-cheat-sheet-talks-6-reasons-why-the-market-wont-crash-yahoo-techticker/?p=13436/">iPhone 4 lines</a>." That is a mind-blowing distinction.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/08/signs-the-economy-will-survive/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Two Signs the Economy Will Survive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/08/signs-the-economy-will-survive/">Two Signs the Economy Will Survive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 08 Jul 2010 12:10:00 EST. <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/world-stocks-up-as-debt-default-fears/646657/">World stock markets advanced</a> Thursday. In Asia, Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 and Shanghai's index both jumped over 2% on improved sentiment and prediction China's government cooling measures won't affect the financial system. In Europe, worries of a wave of debt defaults continued to ease in the wake of the massive $1 trillion aid package from the European Union. But this time around, the company was able buck the trend. In <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9FFL2OO2.htm">Q1</a>, NetSuite had a record quarter, with revenues up 5.7% to $43.9 million and cash flows from operations of $4.7 million. <br />
<br />
I recently attended the NetSuite developer's conference, and got a good background on the overall strategy. I also was able to talk to many of the company's partners. All in all, there was much enthusiasm for the NetSuite platform as companies want to benefit from the growing customer base.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/04/netsuite-makes-rain-from-the-cloud/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NetSuite Makes Rain from the Cloud</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/04/netsuite-makes-rain-from-the-cloud/">NetSuite Makes Rain from the Cloud</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 04 May 2010 14:00:00 EST. Needless to say, such offerings are often deferred as budgets get squeezed.</p>
<p>However, after a tough 2009, it looks like SAP is seeing some <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-01-27/sap-sees-2010-sales-rebound-after-fourth-quarter-profit-falls.html">improvement</a>. In fact, the company expects revenue growth of 4% to 8% in 2010. Moreover, it looks like operating margins will improve because of the cost-cutting efforts. How much? The expectation is for 30% to 31%. Last year's margin was at 27.4%.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/28/sap-finding-growth-again/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SAP Finding Growth Again</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/28/sap-finding-growth-again/">SAP Finding Growth Again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 28 Jan 2010 11:00:00 EST.
