(INTC), first discussed here on March 30, 2009, at a price of $14.72, has dipped toward the $20 level, but just view that retreat as an "extended buying opportunity."

In 2011, the outlook for Intel's fundamental picture to continues to brighten. Revenue should rise 10% to 15% in 2011, after a 24% increase in 2010, as IT spending, the need to upgrade aging computers and new applications increase demand for Intel's next-generation microprocessors.

Intel: Microprocessor Star originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 31 Mar 2011 13:30:00 EST.
And the reason is obvious enough: Qualcomm has the right products at the right time. The smartphone segment, aided by the 3G internet, is on fire, which has resulted in record model station modem (msm) chipset shipments.

Continue reading Qualcomm: Ride the Mobile Upgrade Wave

Qualcomm: Ride the Mobile Upgrade Wave originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Wed, 30 Mar 2011 10:40:00 EST. Microsoft has a reputation for being a frustrating stock. It looks like a value; it seems as if it should be trading higher. But as soon as you purchase the shares, they oftentimes disappoint. Did you catch the price action in Hewlett-Packard Company (HPQ)? Somewhat hard to miss, I would imagine. Unless you purposely avoid stocks that are down 10%.

At the time of this writing, shares of the PC maker were actually down well over 10% to $43.09. And talk about volume! It's multiple times the 30-day average. I have a feeling the market is trying to say something to management. Even with all the other macro concerns that Wall Street is dealing with, shareholders of Hewlett-Packard have to pay attention to this move.
Continue reading Hewlett-Packard Down Big After Latest Report

Hewlett-Packard Down Big After Latest Report originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Wed, 23 Feb 2011 18:00:00 EST. The initial market reaction following the release was bearish: the shares were off by 1.8% to $44.

That might be a disappointment to those who own the company. The 52-week low for the shares is $26.68 while the 52-week high is $45.42. The stock is obviously near its top point for the year, so there was arguably some optimism in the air for the prospects of the price movement during the extended-hours session. Looking at the chart, it can be seen that Agilent has been on a notable run-up for a while.

Continue reading Agilent Technologies Reports Q1 Results

Agilent Technologies Reports Q1 Results originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 14 Feb 2011 17:30:00 EST. (CTSH) was off today after the company issued results for the fourth quarter. With a little more than thirty minutes to go before the end of the regular session, I'm seeing a quote of $74.25, a price that represents a drop of about 1.6%. Volume is above average.

According to the press release, profit on a reported basis calculated out to 66 cents per share. A year ago, Cognizant booked 47 cents per share. On an adjusted basis, net income was 70 cents per share this time around versus 50 cents per share in the comparable period. Earnings.com says the call was for 65 cents per share.

Continue reading Cognizant Down on Earnings News

Cognizant Down on Earnings News originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 07 Feb 2011 17:00:00 EST.
The editor of Bullmarket.com explains, "If these results were from another company, the stock likely would have gotten a lift. The stock went down 6% to a quote of $43.55. That was quite the reversal of fortune, as the shares had closed the regular session higher by 2.9%, settling out at $46.39. The 52-week high is $47.39, so the pullback might be considered a bit of a disappointment.

Then again, is a pullback in this name an opportunity? The business made, on an adjusted basis, 75 cents per share in the fourth quarter, according to MarketWatch.
