Sirius and XM merged in July 2008 to form Sirius XM Satellite Radio Inc. The company offers over 180 channels comprising of commercial free music, sports, talk shows, news stations amongst others. Sirius XM radio channels are mainly available in automobiles but can also be accessed over the Internet or through home stereos by using various accessories. The firm's satellite radios are primarily distributed through automakers, retail locations and through its website.</p>
<p>Sirius XM has ties with major automobile manufacturers such as Ford (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/ford-motor-company/f/nys">F</a>), General Motors (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/general-mtrs-co/gm/nys" class="inlinked">GM</a>) and Toyota (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/toyota-motor-corporation/tm/nys" class="inlinked">TM</a>). This helps drive its presence in the U.S. automobile space. In addition satellite radio services are also offered to customers of certain rental car companies.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/14/coverage-launch-sirius-xm-radio/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Coverage Launch: Sirius XM Radio</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/14/coverage-launch-sirius-xm-radio/">Coverage Launch: Sirius XM Radio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 14 Mar 2011 12:30:00 EST. Oil's gain is spiking gasoline higher in local markets and soft commodities took a breather. Weekly jobless claims went back under the 400,000 mark again despite dollar weakness, but new <a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://realestate.aol.com/homes-for-sale">home sales</a> were down by the double-digits again. <br />

(<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/toyota-motor-corporation/tm/nys">TM</a>) were running smoothly this afternoon. At the time of this writing, they were up 3.3% to $87.96. That wasn't too far away from the new 52-week high of $89.31 that was set earlier in the session. <br />
<br />
Driving the move was a third-quarter earnings report. According to the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/toyota/toyotas-third-quarter-earnings-fall-39/19834045/">Associated Press</a>, net income declined by 39%. While that may not be something investors would want to buy, here's the part of the story that they apparently are giving a bid: management increased its outlook for the full-year profit, expecting it to come in at around $6 billion instead of $4.3 billion.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/08/toyota-up-on-earnings-news/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota Up on Earnings News</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/08/toyota-up-on-earnings-news/">Toyota Up on Earnings News</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 08 Feb 2011 15:30:00 EST. Republicans are poised to gain control of the House of Representatives and gain governorships in Tuesday's mid-term elections. Also, the Federal Reserve is expected to announce another round of <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Quantitative%20Easing">quantitative easing</a> Wednesday, following the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Federal%20Open%20Market%20Committee%20-%20FOMC" target="_blank">FOMC</a> meeting. <p>Toyota's (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/toyota-motor-corporation/tm/nys" class="inlinked" target="_blank">TM</a>) fiscal second-quarter results will be one of the highlights on the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/category/earnings/" class="inlinked" target="_blank">earnings</a> front this week. After three periods of way underestimating Toyota's earnings, have the analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters got it right this time? The stock sure could use a boost. Teva Pharmaceuticals (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/teva-pharmaceutical-industries-limited-american-depositary-shares/teva/nas" class="inlinked" target="_blank">TEVA</a>) is in a similar situation; i.e., high expectations for this week's quarterly results but a stock in need of a boost. The report notes that 373,000 of the automobiles are Avalon sedans from the 2000 through 2004 model years and 39,000 are LX470 SUVs from model years 2003 through 2007. The automaker announced that the steering lock bar in the Avalon could break "under certain conditions," while the LX470s are being recalled to "eliminate the risk of steering shaft disengagement."<br />
<br />
The company said that it has received three accident reports involving the Avalon and none involving the LX470. Nevertheless, the automaker is trying to fix these problems, which are the latest in a series of recalls this year.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/29/toyota-recall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota Recalls More Cars Due to Steering Problems</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/29/toyota-recall/">Toyota Recalls More Cars Due to Steering Problems</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Jul 2010 09:00:00 EST. This time the recall involves its Sequoia sports utility vehicle due to concerns regarding the stability control on the 2003 model year. This is the <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/17/toyota-recalls-sienna-minivans/">second time this month</a> that the company has recalled some of its SUVs.<br />
<br />
The back's stability control system is supposed to correct a loss of traction in the front or rear tires when the SUV enters a corner. There have been reports that the system activated when the vehicle was moving at slow speed and resulted in drivers not being able to accelerate, and in some cases the brakes coming on and slowing the SUV down unexpectedly.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/29/more-recalls-involving-toyota-suvs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>More Recalls Involving Toyota SUVs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/29/more-recalls-involving-toyota-suvs/">More Recalls Involving Toyota SUVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Apr 2010 09:30:00 EST. Some stocks have a great dividend yield. Others have a decades-long history of raising dividends once a year and are easy to put on your list of <a href="http://www.investorplace.com/experts/jeff_reeves/dividend-stocks-att-t-verizon-vz-altria-mo-merck-mrk-centurytel-ctl.html?cp=bloggingstocks&amp;cc=synd&amp;cs=investorplace" target="_blank">dividend stocks that are a lock to boost payouts</a>. Toyota announced today that in light of the concerns over the Lexus SUV it would be running <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/toyota-conducts-safety-tests-on-all-suv/398450/">safety tests on all of its SUVs</a> to reassure Toyota drivers that their vehicles are indeed safe.<br />
<br />
The concern comes from tests that <em>Consumer Reports</em> ran on the Lexus GX 460 that showed the SUV was a rollover risk. The electronic stabilizer that was supposed to correct the SUV from spinning out was not kicking in as quickly as it should be.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/15/toyota-to-test-safety-on-all-suvs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota to Test Safety on All SUVs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/15/toyota-to-test-safety-on-all-suvs/">Toyota to Test Safety on All SUVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 15 Apr 2010 18:00:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/toyota-motor-corporation/tm/nys" class="inlinked">TM</a>) was known for the safety of its vehicles, but the past year has been a nightmare for the Japanese automaker. And things took a turn for the worse Tuesday when it was forced to <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/toyota-suspends-sales-of-lexus-model-2010-04-13">suspend sales of its Lexus GX 460</a>.<br />
<br />
The decision to suspend sales of the Lexus SUV came after <em>Consumer Reports</em> hit the model with a <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2010/04/13/2010-04-13_consumer_reports_hits_lexus_gx460_with_rare_dont_buy_warning.html">rare "Don't Buy" rating</a> due to rollover concerns.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/14/toyota-suspends-sale-of-lexus-suv-over-safety-concerns/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota Suspends Sale of Lexus SUV over Safety Concerns</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/14/toyota-suspends-sale-of-lexus-suv-over-safety-concerns/">Toyota Suspends Sale of Lexus SUV over Safety Concerns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 14 Apr 2010 09:40:00 EST. After a promising start, most of the indexes closed near the flat line. Most of the economic data was good. The <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/slm-corp/ism/nys" class="inlinked">ISM</a> hit a six year high of 59.6% and weekly jobless claims fell by 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 435,000. <br />
<br />
Those two pieces of news were offset by an announcement from Challenger Gray that its research showed March job cuts. Inflation also began to be a bother, at least on paper. The ISM data showed higher prices where paid for raw goods bought by most manufacturers. Oil moved to $85.<br />

Once a bastion of reliability and trustworthiness in the auto industry, the perception has swung rapidly the other way in just the past six months.</p>
<p>Indeed, the footage showing Toyota vehicles apparently racing down highways with little control happening from behind the wheel are powerful -- more powerful than Toyota's meager "We thank you" advertising campaign. Which automaker is taking advantage of this situation by proxy? Why, Ford Motor Company (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/ford-motor-company/f/nys">F</a>) of course.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/26/bloomberg-poll-4-in-10-would-not-buy-a-toyota-ford-takes-over/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bloomberg Poll: 4 in 10 Would Not Buy a Toyota; Ford Takes Over</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/26/bloomberg-poll-4-in-10-would-not-buy-a-toyota-ford-takes-over/">Bloomberg Poll: 4 in 10 Would Not Buy a Toyota; Ford Takes Over</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 26 Mar 2010 18:30:00 EST. <p>The company will stop production late this month and the freeze will last "at least" 12 days. The decision means that the company will suspend production at the French and UK plants at the same time as two plants in the United States. The U.S. closure will last as long as two weeks and is hoped to prevent inventory levels from piling up thanks to the recalls.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/26/toyota-to-temporarily-halt-production-in-france-and-u-k/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota to Temporarily Halt Production in France and UK</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/26/toyota-to-temporarily-halt-production-in-france-and-u-k/">Toyota to Temporarily Halt Production in France and UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 26 Mar 2010 09:00:00 EST.
