<p>Appliance manufacturer extraordinaire Whirlpool's stock over-corrected last summer, formed a bear-hug, bottomed at/near $69.50, then recovered to about $90 during the winter -- before recently sliding back to $84. Translation: a <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=whr&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details%3fSymbol%3dcbi">roller-coaster</a> -- something that one generally does not see with an industrial player. Even so, I still like WHR here. But hold on to your hat if you own the shares -- the bumpiness could continue in 2011. </p>
<p>And if you haven't already, consider taking some provides off the table with WHR, if you're in at/near $34.50.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/05/the-bumpy-ride-continues-with-whirlpool/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Bumpy Ride Continues with Whirlpool</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/05/the-bumpy-ride-continues-with-whirlpool/">The Bumpy Ride Continues with Whirlpool</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 17:30:00 EST. <br />
Appliance manufacturer extraordinary Whirlpool, first discussed here on March 13, 2009 at a price of $34.47, over-corrected this summer, formed <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=whr&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/">a bear-hug</a>, and bottomed at/near $69.50, slightly below the expected $71 bottom. <br />
<br />
Look for WHR to generate a 4-6% revenue increase in 2011, after a likely 5-7% revenue rise in 2010, led by strong demand for kitchen and laundry appliances in emerging markets. Latin America sales (especially Brazil) should be particularly strong -- rising better than 10% in 2011 and 2012. U.S. sales should continue to gain momentum in 2011, with a 2-4% rise expected.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/07/is-whirlpool-undervalued/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Is Whirlpool Undervalued?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/07/is-whirlpool-undervalued/">Is Whirlpool Undervalued?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 07 Feb 2011 16:30:00 EST. A preliminary report from <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/automatic-data-processing-inc/adp/nas" class="inlinked">ADP</a> on employment did not do much to help out, and fresh violence between protesters in Egypt may have added some skepticism. We'll find out whether there's been any movement on that front when employment data for January comes out this week. The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Challenger%20Job-Cut%20Report">Challenger Job-Cut</a> report and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/ADP%20National%20Employment%20Report">ADP employment data</a> are due Wednesday, and the government's unemployment rate on Friday. Another mild increase in jobs is expected, in line with the three-month average, but not enough to significantly reduce the unemployment rate.</p>
<p>Also look for the ISM <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/ISM%20Manufacturing%20Index">manufacturing</a> and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/ISM%20Non-Manufacturing%20Index">nonmanufacturing</a> indexes this week, as well as the Chicago <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Purchasing%20Managers%20Index%20-%20PMI">PMI</a> and the New York <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/National%20Association%20of%20Purchasing%20Management%20Chicago%20-%20NAPM%20Chicago">NAPM</a> index. And Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will speak to the National Press Club on Thursday.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/30/week-in-preview-january-employment-data-ups-earnings-and-more/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Week in Preview: January Employment Data, UPS Earnings and More</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/30/week-in-preview-january-employment-data-ups-earnings-and-more/">Week in Preview: January Employment Data, UPS Earnings and More</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 30 Jan 2011 12:30:00 EST. Typically, that technical move would generate a stand-aside view, but Whirlpool's business model gets the benefit of the doubt here, and the calculation is that a bottom is in place at/near $71.<br />

Even strong data out of Chicago <a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-pmi-group-inc/pmi/nys">PMI</a> managed to offer no additional rally today and that DJIA 11,000 looks more elusive. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/whirlpool-corporation/whr/nys">WHR</a>), first discussed here <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/29/whirlpool-is-rising-with-the-global-economy/#continued">on March 13, 2009</a>, at a price of $34.47 and due for a breather after an impressive one-year run-up, pull-backed this spring. But investors who can tolerate moderate-risk should consider the roughly 28% correction as as a decent time to scoop-up shares. Here's why.</p>
<p>Look for Whirlpool to post a 4% to 6% revenue increase in 2010, then a 5% to 7% rise in 2011, lead by strong demand for kitchen and laundry appliances in emerging markets. Latin America sales should be particularly strong, rising better than 10% in 2010 and 2011.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/27/whirlpool-pull-back/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Does Whirlpool's Recent Pull-Back Represent an Opportunity?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/27/whirlpool-pull-back/">Does Whirlpool's Recent Pull-Back Represent an Opportunity?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 27 Jul 2010 12:30:00 EST. With a little over an hour to go before the market closes up shop for the day, the stock is down 3.7% to $87.99. Shareholders have to be disappointed, considering the strong earnings report that the company released this morning. <br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/investing/whirlpool-earnings/19560888/">this item</a>, adjusted profit calculated out to $2.82 per share for the second quarter. Analysts were expecting somewhere around $2.17 per share. Furthermore, guidance from management for the full fiscal year received an upgrade. What do you think? Whirlpool Corporation (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/whirlpool-corporation/whr/nys">WHR</a>) is having a spectacular trading session. I'm not sure where the stock will settle out at by the end of the day, but let me tell you, what I'm seeing on my screen at the time of this writing is incredibly impressive. The stock is up almost $12, or over 11%. Volume is robust.</p>
<p>The maker of various appliances under trademarks such as Maytag and KitchenAid has been a great stock to hold over the last twelve months. I mean, just look at the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/charts/whirlpool-corporation/whr/nys/tech-chart">one-year chart</a>. If that doesn't scream bullish, nothing does.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/26/whirlpool-wows-the-market-with-q1-release/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Whirlpool Wows the Market with Q1 Release</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/26/whirlpool-wows-the-market-with-q1-release/">Whirlpool Wows the Market with Q1 Release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 26 Apr 2010 16:00:00 EST. If you bought WHR then, you're up more than 100%.<br />
<br />
But this does not mean there isn't more upside ahead for Whirlpool, for those investors who can tolerate the risk and to want to go for an even bigger gain.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/12/whirlpool-trending-toward-100-and-beyond/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Whirlpool: Trending Toward $100, and Beyond</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/12/whirlpool-trending-toward-100-and-beyond/">Whirlpool: Trending Toward $100, and Beyond</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 12 Apr 2010 11:30:00 EST. If you bought in March 2009, you're up an impressive 137%.<br /><br />However, this will probably be your last chance to purchase WHR and earn an outsized gain during this economic expansion. <br /><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/19/whirlpool-is-whirling-higher/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Whirlpool Is Whirling Higher</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/19/whirlpool-is-whirling-higher/">Whirlpool Is Whirling Higher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 15:30:00 EST. <em>The Street.com's Jim Cramer says that he's making it his mission in 2010 to call out people in the media who provide no value. </em><br />
<br />
Have you ever noticed that with every good housing report there are endless caveats: <br />
<br />
1. Prices are still down year over year.<br />
<br />
2. The home tax credit of $8,000 moved the house, and that will go away.<br />
<br />
3. Home mortgages are artificially low because of the Fed.<br />
<br />
4. Banks have more foreclosures on their balance sheets than before.<br />
<br />
5. Foreclosures continue to occur.<br />
<br />
6. Everything will slip back to imbalance when the credit goes away.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/23/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-endless-caveats-dont-make-you-any-mon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cramer on BloggingStocks: Endless Caveats Don't Make You Any Money</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/23/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-endless-caveats-dont-make-you-any-mon/">Cramer on BloggingStocks: Endless Caveats Don't Make You Any Money</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 23 Dec 2009 10:00:00 EST. <p>The methodology of using basic stock data points to identify potential value investments only sets the stage for success -- it assures nothing. Today I review the remaining 20, searching to find the ones that might be worth investing in.</p>
<p>Price-to-book (from 11/27/09) was used as the first value screen. The theory being from a value investor's perspective that buying for a price at or near the break-up value of the company provides downside protection. Of course that is easier said than done.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/01/serious-money-fortunes-25-leaders-now-20/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Serious Money: Fortune's 25 leaders, now 20</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/01/serious-money-fortunes-25-leaders-now-20/">Serious Money: Fortune's 25 leaders, now 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 18:00:00 EST. One of the biggest makers of stuff for homes is <strong>Whirlpool</strong> (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/whirlpool-corporation/whr/nys">WHR</a>). During the real estate bull market, Whirlpool was firing on all cylinders. But when the market crashed, so did WHR stock.</p>
<p>Since bottoming earlier this year, WHR has made a big recovery. That recovery was based on a recovery in the domestic real estate market. What has yet to be priced into the stock is a boom in overseas shipments.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/11/14/weak-dollar-winner-1-whirlpool-whr/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Weak dollar winner #1: Whirlpool (WHR)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/11/14/weak-dollar-winner-1-whirlpool-whr/">Weak dollar winner #1: Whirlpool (WHR)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 14 Nov 2009 11:00:00 EST.
