inCode is a consulting firm that focuses on wireless and is also a division of VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRSN).
Today the company announced its predictions for 2007.
So, what can we expect? Actually, some of them are no-brainers. That is, expect to see social-networking hit your cell phone. Although, the twist will be the use of location-based technologies (yes, you can track the whereabouts of your friends -- which does seem kind of like stalking).
Mobile devices will get more pizzazz with video. But, do not expect people to shell-out cash for it. Rather, the approach will likely be previews and sneak-peeks.
What's more, there is likely to be much more advertising on mobile devices. Part of this will be brand ads. But, another trend may be local search advertising.
Unfortunately, as mobile devices go beyond voice, there are risks. In other words, hackers may get more aggressive.
Finally, it looks like companies such as Google, Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) and eBay's (NASDAQ:EBAY) Skype will put pressure on traditional wireless companies.
