The Buyback Premium Portfolio is beating the S&amp;P 500 by more than 65% since its inception (August 2, 2000)! This portfolio is up 54.48% since inception (August 2, 2000) vs. a decline of 10.56% in the S&amp;P 500 over the same time frame. We hope that you are participating in these profits. For the month of January 2011, The Buyback Premium Portfolio gained 1.18% vs. a gain of 2.27% in the S&amp;P 500.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/18/david-frieds-buyback-premium-portfolio-mid-month-update/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>David Fried's Buyback Premium Portfolio: Mid-Month Update</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/18/david-frieds-buyback-premium-portfolio-mid-month-update/">David Fried's Buyback Premium Portfolio: Mid-Month Update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 18 Feb 2011 16:00:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/aetna-incorporated/aet/nys" class="inlinked">AET</a>) will be reporting its fourth quarter earnings Friday before the market opens, with analysts expecting to see a strong quarter for the company.<br />
<br />
Going into tomorrow's <a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/category/earnings/">earnings</a> report, analysts are expecting to see Aetna report earnings of $0.62 per share, up from $0.40 during the same period last year.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/03/aetna-fourth-quarter-earnings-preview/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Aetna Fourth Quarter Earnings Preview</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/03/aetna-fourth-quarter-earnings-preview/">Aetna Fourth Quarter Earnings Preview</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Feb 2011 17:00:00 EST. Part of this will be the result of Obama care. And of course, a key factor will be the onslaught of the Baby Boomers, as they reach the retirement zone.<br />
<br />
To deal with the costs and the complexities, the federal government is pushing hard for medical records. It seems like no-brainer, right?<br />
<br />
Well, the major health insurers are certainly waking up. For example, this week Aetna (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/aetna-incorporated/aet/nys">AET</a>) agreed to <a href="http://investor.aetna.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=110617&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1505217&amp;highlight=">shell out</a> a cool $500 million for Medicity. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/07/aetna-strikes-a-500-million-deal-for-medical-records/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Aetna Strikes a $500 Million Deal for Medical Records</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/07/aetna-strikes-a-500-million-deal-for-medical-records/">Aetna Strikes a $500 Million Deal for Medical Records</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 07 Dec 2010 15:00:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/humana-inc/hum/nys">HUM</a>), whose colleagues include Aetna Inc. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/aetna-incorporated/aet/nys">AET</a>) and CIGNA Corporation (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/cigna-corporation/ci/nys">CI</a>), reported Q1 earnings earlier today. The health insurer isn't doing so well, unfortunately. In late trading, shares were down almost 3% to $43.73. Volume is above the norm, as you might expect.</p>
<p>I've covered many stocks that are near their 52-week highs, but this one doesn't fall into such a desirable category. Alas, the 52-week high on the shares stands at $52.66. And, as you can see from the following <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/charts/humana-inc/hum/nys/tech-chart">one-year chart</a>, the stock began its pullback after it topped out in January. Since then, things haven't been too exciting.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/26/humana-dips-on-q1-report/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Humana Dips on Q1 Report</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/26/humana-dips-on-q1-report/">Humana Dips on Q1 Report</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 26 Apr 2010 17:00:00 EST. For the full year, the profit is expected to be $3.67 per share on revenue of $43.4 billion, up from $3.38 per share on $39.5 billion in 2007. PepsiCo's earnings met or beat estimates in four of the past five quarters, but missed by only two cents per share in the third quarter. The consensus recommendation of analysts remains to buy PEP. The share price fell to a 52-week low in January and is now 24.4% lower than it was a year ago. During the fourth quarter, PepsiCo declared <a href="http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/pr/_a/pepsico-declares-dividend/rfid158391222?channel=pf">a $0.42 per share quarterly dividend</a>, agreed to <a href="http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/pr/_a/pepsico-agrees-to-acquire-spitz/rfid153390923">acquire a Spitz International</a>, and announced investments in <a href="http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/pr/_a/pepsico-plans-to-invest-1-billion-in/rfid154662654">China</a> and <a href="http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/pr/_a/pepsico-businesses-and-brands-to-invest/rfid160220041">Mexico</a>. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/02/08/the-week-in-preview-coke-versus-pepsi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The week in preview: Coke versus Pepsi</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/02/08/the-week-in-preview-coke-versus-pepsi/">The week in preview: Coke versus Pepsi</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 08 Feb 2009 12:30:00 EST. If you think this stock won't be rising too far in the coming months, then it could be a good time to look at a bearish hedged play on AET.<br /><br />After hitting a one-year high of $60.00 in December, the stock has hit a new one-year low today. This morning, AET opened at $36.98. So far today the stock has hit a low of $36.01 and a high of $37.99. As of 11:55, AET is trading at $37.29, down 2.50 (-6.3%). The chart for AET looks bearish and steady, while <a target="_blank" href="http://www.iotogo.com/spoutlookonline">S&amp;P</a> gives the stock a positive 4 STARS (out of 5) buy rating.<br /><br />For a bearish hedged play on this stock, I would consider an August <a target="_blank" href="http://www.iotogo.com/HSCS">bear-call credit spread</a> above the $45 range. A bear-call credit spread is an options position that combines the purchase and sale of call options to hedge risk in case the stock doesn't do what you think but still leverage nice returns. For this particular trade, we will make a 4.2% return in six weeks as long as AET is below $45 at August expiration. AET would have to rise by more than 20% before we would start to lose money.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/07/03/trade-idea-for-aetna-downgrade/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Trade idea for recent Aetna downgrade</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/07/03/trade-idea-for-aetna-downgrade/">Trade idea for recent Aetna downgrade</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Jul 2008 15:26:00 EST.
