
Research in Motion (NASDAQ:
RIMM) has traded up a nice 6.0% in early after hours trading after the company posted
better than expected earnings this afternoon.
The company reported strong sales of it's handheld devices which resulted in a 47% profit growth when compared to the same period last year. The company reported earnings of $170 million compared with $120 million last year as the company was able to pick up 875,000 new subscribers as demand for their BlackBerry devise continues to be hot.
Analysts had expected to see the company report $0.94 per share in earnings but the company actually posted earnings of $0.95 after adjusting for stock option expenses.
After finishing out the day down 0.8% to 133.70 the stock is currently up $8.00 in after hour trading.
