The report notes that 373,000 of the automobiles are Avalon sedans from the 2000 through 2004 model years and 39,000 are LX470 SUVs from model years 2003 through 2007. The automaker announced that the steering lock bar in the Avalon could break "under certain conditions," while the LX470s are being recalled to "eliminate the risk of steering shaft disengagement."<br />
<br />
The company said that it has received three accident reports involving the Avalon and none involving the LX470. Nevertheless, the automaker is trying to fix these problems, which are the latest in a series of recalls this year.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/29/toyota-recall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota Recalls More Cars Due to Steering Problems</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/29/toyota-recall/">Toyota Recalls More Cars Due to Steering Problems</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Jul 2010 09:00:00 EST. The company that once had a strong reputation for safe and reliable cars has seen that image tarnished, and the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/toyotas-february-sales-suffer-over-safety-concerns/19380072/">effects are being felt on the company's dealer lots</a>.<br />
<br />
February was a tough month for the company, and concerns over the safety of the company's vehicles led to a reported 8.7% dip in sales last month.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/03/toyota-sales-hit-by-recall-concerns/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toyota Sales Hit by Recall Concerns</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/03/toyota-sales-hit-by-recall-concerns/">Toyota Sales Hit by Recall Concerns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 03 Mar 2010 10:00:00 EST. Ignore the rearview mirror; put it in drive and move forward. At least the dismal year ended on a high note. Despite a total sales decline of 21.2%, to 10.4 million units, the industry gets to celebrate a 15.1% increase in sales for the month of December, according to Autodata.</p>
<p>For the Detroit crowd, Ford (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/ford-motor-company/f/nys" target="_blank">F</a>) led the pack, with December sales up almost a third. General Motors (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/general-motors-corp-1-5percent-prf-ser-d/grm/nys" target="_blank">GRM</a>) ticked 5.7% higher, with Chrysler up 3.7% for the month.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/06/auto-sales-surge-in-december-capping-dismal-year/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Auto Sales Surge in December, Capping Dismal Year</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/06/auto-sales-surge-in-december-capping-dismal-year/">Auto Sales Surge in December, Capping Dismal Year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 09:30:00 EST. The auto manufacturer bailout, which includes Chrysler and General Motors (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/general-motors-corp-1-5percent-prf-ser-d/grm/nys" target="_blank">GRM</a>), has cost the country more than $30 billion, with American International Group (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/american-international-group-inc/aig/nys" target="_blank">AIG</a>) consuming another $30 billion.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Bank of America (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/bank-of-america-corporation/bac/nys" target="_blank">BAC</a>) has already made good with the government, and several banks -- such as Capital One (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/capital-one-financial-corporation/cof/nys" target="_blank">COF</a>), JP Morgan Chase (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/jpmorgan-chase-and-co/jpm/nys" target="_blank">JPM</a>) and TCF Financial (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/tcf-financial-corporation/tcb/nys" target="_blank">TCB</a>) -- only have to <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/06/capital-one-warrants-help-chip-away-tarp-obligation/">clean up situations</a> regarding the warrants they've issued. And interestingly, the losses from the bailouts on AIG and auto manufacturers are being offset by profits from the bank bailouts, which could generate additional funds of up to $19.5 billion. <br /> </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/10/banks-subsidizing-auto-tarp-extra-money-could-be-spent/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Banks subsidizing auto TARP, extra money could be spent</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/10/banks-subsidizing-auto-tarp-extra-money-could-be-spent/">Banks subsidizing auto TARP, extra money could be spent</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 10 Dec 2009 09:00:00 EST. The auto retailer banked a<a href="http://www.rttnews.com/ArticleView.aspx?Id=1055196&amp;Category=Breaking%20News"> first-quarter profit</a> of $7 million, or 60 cents per share, up from 45 cents per share in the year-ago period. Revenue climbed 11% to $83.8 million, buoyed by an 8.5% jump in same-store sales.</p>
<p>Both figures were better than analysts expected, with consensus estimates calling for a profit of 41 cents per share on $78.0 million in revenue. The company added to the glad tidings by reporting that its provision for credit losses dipped to 19.5% of sales, compared to 20.9% in the same quarter last year.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/09/01/americas-car-mart-tags-four-year-high-after-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>America's Car-Mart tags four-year high after earnings</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/09/01/americas-car-mart-tags-four-year-high-after-earnings/">America's Car-Mart tags four-year high after earnings</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 12:00:00 EST. It won't be clear for some time whether the program was successful or not in stimulating the auto industry but it was certainly popular with buyers. As the program ends, will the rally in auto retailing stocks also come to a close?<br /><br />Interestingly, although the program runs through the end of business on today, some dealers stopped using the rebate program on Friday the 21st. For example,<a target="_blank" href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/autonation-inc/an/nys"> AutoNation, Inc. </a>(NYSE: <a target="_blank" href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/autonation-inc/an/nys">AN</a>) is a publicly owned auto retailer that stopped offering the program to buyers on Friday. Perhaps management has concerns about the government being willing to pay the rebates on time.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/24/cash-for-clunkers-ends-the-rally-in-auto-retailers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cash for Clunkers ends the rally in auto retailers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/24/cash-for-clunkers-ends-the-rally-in-auto-retailers/">Cash for Clunkers ends the rally in auto retailers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 24 Aug 2009 15:00:00 EST. However, the picture starts to look a lot better once you compare April and May of this year.<br /><br />All in all, Ford sold 161,197 vehicles last month in the U.S.. Yes, this was 24% off the pace it set last year at this time, but it does mark a pretty impressive 20% jump over its numbers during the previous month, as the company was able to take slight advantage of its competitors' financial woes.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/06/02/ford-f-sees-big-drop-in-may-sales-but-does-pick-up-market-sha/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford sees big drop in May sales, but does pick up market share</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/06/02/ford-f-sees-big-drop-in-may-sales-but-does-pick-up-market-sha/">Ford sees big drop in May sales, but does pick up market share</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 02 Jun 2009 17:00:00 EST.
