Still, for the most part travelers have taken the baggage fees in stride. Although viewed as a nuisance by many travelers, the reality is a second bag, in particular, is optional weight that increases flying costs per mile. And with aviation fuel zooming past latte-price levels, that's no significant expense. <br /><br />Still, US Airways Inc. may have gone one too far with the fee system. Effective today, US Airways will start charging for water on flights by coach passengers, <span style="font-style: italic;">The Wall Street Journal</span> reported Friday (<a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/middleseat/2008/08/01/starting-today-no-more-free-water-on-us-air/">subscription required</a>). Bottled water will be $2. Passengers flying first class are exempt from the extra fee.<br /><br /><br style="font-weight: bold;" /><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/08/01/us-airways-to-start-charging-for-water-on-flights-effective-tod/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>US Airways to start charging for water on flights, effective today</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/08/01/us-airways-to-start-charging-for-water-on-flights-effective-tod/">US Airways to start charging for water on flights, effective today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 01 Aug 2008 14:52:00 EST. Earlier this year, Boeing delayed delivery of the 787 by six months to about December 2008, instead of May 2008, due to a parts shortage and also to complete additional work previously assigned to contractors, <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&amp;sid=acSHfl_zA9U0&amp;refer=us">Bloomberg News reported.</a> Boeing's shares were down 40 cents to $92.33 in Tuesday mid-day trading.<br /><br />Boeing has 762 orders for the 787, valued at about $120 billion. Analysts view an aerospace company's ability to deliver planes on time as critical to the company's future prospects, due to the high cost airlines incur for delayed planes. Delayed plane deliveries also discourage future plane orders, analysts generally agree. <br /><br /><object width="415" height="347"><param name="wmode" value="opaque" /><param name="movie" value="http://uncutvideo.aol.com/v6.310/en-US/uc_videoplayer.swf" /><param name="FlashVars" value="aID=1dce0c35e8d47f5402aff95efcbf5ce24&amp;site=http://uncutvideo.aol.com/"/><embed src="http://uncutvideo.aol.com/v6.310/en-US/uc_videoplayer.swf" wmode="opaque" FlashVars="aID=1dce0c35e8d47f5402aff95efcbf5ce24&amp;site=http://uncutvideo.aol.com/" width="415" height="347" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object><br /><br />In addition to the 787's next-generation passenger amenities and substantially improved fuel efficiency, the plane also serves as a touch-point in the aerospace battle between Boeing and Airbus.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/11/boeing-says-787-dreamliner-on-track-for-2008-delivery/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Boeing says 787 Dreamliner on track for 2008 delivery</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/11/boeing-says-787-dreamliner-on-track-for-2008-delivery/">Boeing says 787 Dreamliner on track for 2008 delivery</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 13:56:00 EST.
