China's surprise rate hike came amid word of a rate by the European Central Bank, expected on Thursday of this week. Brent Crude hit what appears to be a two-year high and even Ben Bernanke's remarks on inflation didn't add much to the mix. That being said, it was not known until the final minute if the markets were going to be in the red or the black for the trading day. <br />

There are many ways for this company's future to play out in a very positive scenario.<br />
<br />
The airline industry has been rejuvenated as of late -- and that is good news for aircraft manufacturers. The Republicans won the house majority and that usually improves the fortunes of defense contractors.<br />
<br />
The 787 Dreamliner, now three years and counting behind schedule, is in test flight mode. The plane portrayed as a dream to travelers and airline companies has turned into a nightmare of sorts, or at least the dream has changed. Boeing is dreaming of the day they start manufacturing and selling and profiting from all their labor.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/28/chasing-value-looked-at-boeing-then-looked-away/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chasing Value: Looked at Boeing, Then Looked Away</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/28/chasing-value-looked-at-boeing-then-looked-away/">Chasing Value: Looked at Boeing, Then Looked Away</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 28 Feb 2011 09:40:00 EST. Boeing is expected to deliver the first 18 aircraft by 2017. The total contract includes the supply of 179 refueling tankers. This is a major coup for Boeing, who was expected to lose out on the contract to rival <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/european-aeronautic-def-and-sp/eadsf/nao">EADS</a>. If you think that the stock won't fall by too much in the coming months, then now could be a good time to look at a bullish hedged trade on BA.<br />
<br />
BA opened this morning at $73.94. So far today the stock has hit a low of $72.06 and a high of $74.29. As of 12:25, BA is trading at $72.50 up $1.74 (2.5%). The chart for BA looks bullish and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.iotogo.com/spoutlookonline">S&amp;P</a> gives BA a positive 4 STARS (out of 5) buy ranking.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/25/boeing-wins-35b-usaf-contract/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Boeing Wins $35B USAF Contract</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/25/boeing-wins-35b-usaf-contract/">Boeing Wins $35B USAF Contract</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 25 Feb 2011 13:00:00 EST. After the first review, one stock was eliminated from consideration: Petroleo Brasileiro (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/petroleo-brasileiro-s-a-petrobras/pbr/nys">PBR</a>). The reason is in the first story.</p>
<p>Today we continue our analysis by examining price-to-book (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Price-To-Book%20Ratio%20-%20P/B%20Ratio">P/B</a>), price-to-cash-flow (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Price-To-Cash-Flow%20Ratio">P/CF</a>), and <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Dividend%20Yield">dividend yield</a>. There is also some dissent in the Fed and oversight officials that seems to be gathering more steam. Employment data confirmed a mild improvement today, but that does not help as the data is pre-election and pre-QE2. There was also a total lack of mergers this Monday and most of the price action was in lower-priced shares. <br />

Aviation Week published a report late Friday that the company has told several customers that <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/boeing-says-787-delay-10-more-months-report-2010-11-06?siteid=aolRss" target="_blank">delivery of its 787 Dreamliner will be delayed by up to 10 months</a>, but Boeing <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN059996520101105?feedType=RSS&amp;feedName=marketsNews&amp;rpc=33" target="_blank">denies this report, saying it intends to meet the current delivery date of Q1 2011</a>. If you think this stock won't be rising too far in the coming months, then it could be a good time to look at a bearish hedged play on BA.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/08/boeing-could-be-facing-even-more-787-delays/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Boeing Could Be Facing Even More 787 Delays</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/08/boeing-could-be-facing-even-more-787-delays/">Boeing Could Be Facing Even More 787 Delays</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 13:00:00 EST. At the time of this writing, shares of the aerospace concern were higher by 3% to $71.16. Volume, however, wasn't yet above average (it will be, though, before the regular session is through). <br />
<br />
The 52-week low for the stock is $47.18, and the 52-week high is $76. The company is therefore in favor these days. The <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/charts/the-boeing-company/ba/nys/tech-chart">chart</a>, while not reflective of a smooth uptrend, nevertheless shows an equity that has been doing okay given the volatility we've seen in recent months.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/20/boeing-sees-a-bid-on-q3-data/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Boeing Sees a Bid on Q3 Data</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/20/boeing-sees-a-bid-on-q3-data/">Boeing Sees a Bid on Q3 Data</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 20 Oct 2010 15:00:00 EST. Third quarter reports are due from tech, financial and pharmaceutical companies, from airlines and from many others. Here's a day-by-day rundown of the coming week's earnings highlights, with a closer look at Apple (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked">AAPL</a>), Harley-Davidson (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/harley-davidson-inc/hog/nys" class="inlinked">HOG</a>), Boeing (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-boeing-company/ba/nys" class="inlinked" target="_blank">BA</a>) and Southwest Airlines (<a target="_blank" class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/southwest-airlines-co/luv/nys">LUV</a>).</p>
<p>Getting things started on Monday, analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect Citigroup (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/citigroup-incorporated/c/nys">C</a>), Halliburton (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/halliburton-company/hal/nys" class="inlinked">HAL</a>) and IBM (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/international-business-machines-corporation/ibm/nys" class="inlinked">IBM</a>) to post year-over-year earnings growth. But Monday's highlight no doubt will be Apple's (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked">AAPL</a>) quarterly results.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/17/week-in-preview-return-of-the-earnings-crunch/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Week in Preview: Return of the Earnings Crunch (AAPL, BA, HOG, LUV)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/17/week-in-preview-return-of-the-earnings-crunch/">Week in Preview: Return of the Earnings Crunch (AAPL, BA, HOG, LUV)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 17 Oct 2010 12:30:00 EST. After examining the P/E, PEG, P/CF, P/S, and P/B, Boeing did not make it through the screens.<br />

Today I continue the exercise, hoping to find a stock worthy of placing a bet. <br />

We give lip service to the likelihood of defense being a target of budget hawks in Congress, but truth be told, the same fiscally conservative members are often the biggest supporters of defense.<br />
<br />
Equally important is that unlike many other industries, this is one tech sector that keeps most of its jobs at home and well-distributed through the country. This, too, preserves defense spending.<br />
<br />
The major players in the industry after 20 years of consolidation are General Dynamics Corp (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/general-dynamics-corporation/gd/nys">GD</a>), Lockheed Martin (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/lockheed-martin-corporation/lmt/nys">LMT</a>), Boeing Co (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-boeing-company/ba/nys">BA</a>), Northrop, Grumman (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/northrop-grumman-corporation/noc/nys">NOC</a>), and Raytheon Company (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/raytheon-company/rtn/nys">RTN</a>). In addition there are hundreds more making specialized parts in support of the majors and more still supplying basic elements like tires, wiring, computer processors, steel, aluminum, specialty glass, and ammunition. Then there are suppliers of manpower and smaller manufacturers producing unmanned aircraft drones and robots.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/11/chasing-value-scoping-out-defense-contractors-part-1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chasing Value: Scoping Out Defense Contractors -- Part 1</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/11/chasing-value-scoping-out-defense-contractors-part-1/">Chasing Value: Scoping Out Defense Contractors -- Part 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 11 Oct 2010 14:30:00 EST.
