<p>Score another one for the Web 2.0 revolution. Just one day after<em> </em><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/time-warner-inc/twx/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Time Warner Inc.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/time-warner-inc/twx/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">TWX</a>)'s <em>Life</em> magazine announced that it was done as a print publication, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/meredith-corporation/mdp/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Meredith Corp</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/meredith-corporation/mdp/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">MDP</a>) is now saying that <em>Child</em> will become online-only. <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/03/28/time-warner-pulls-plug-on-life-what-does-it-mean/">As I wrote earlier</a>, I think that we will continue to see the collapse of numerous other print publications, newspapers and magazines alike. Many of them simply lack a compelling <em>raison d'etre</em> (Yep, I took French) with more varied, up-to-date content available on the internet. Why pay for a subscription to <em>Child</em> when you can read sites like <a href="http://www.bloggingbaby.com/">BloggingBaby</a> online for free? Why buy <em>UsWeekly</em> and<em> Star</em> when <a href="http://perezhilton.com">PerezHilton</a> and <a href="http://www.styleikon.com/">Styleikon</a> are there with up-to-the minute celebrity gossip?</p>
<p>If the print industry is to survive (without contracting severely) it will have to find ways to provide readers with additional value that they can't get online. Any ideas?</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/03/29/child-goes-the-way-of-life/">Child goes the way of Life</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Mar 2007 11:06:00 EST. <p>In the 1970s there were more than 200 child deaths a year attributed to the accidental ingestion of any manner of dangerous household chemicals, personal care products, over-the-counter medications, and cleaning agents. Due to the efforts of multiple agencies, the occurrence of these unfortunate accidents has been reduced to about 36 a year. </p>
<p>In 2005 about 91,000 young children visited hospital emergency rooms do to unintentional poisoning, and poison control call centers fielded more than 1 million calls. By maintaining constant availability and aggressive public awareness, organizations such as the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission seek to further reduce accidental poison fatalities.</p>
<p>To prevent these incidents, <a href="http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07131.html">CPSC recommends</a> the following safety steps: </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/03/17/national-poison-prevention-week-and-other-good-news/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>National Poison Prevention Week and other good news!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/03/17/national-poison-prevention-week-and-other-good-news/">National Poison Prevention Week and other good news!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 17 Mar 2007 13:10:00 EST.
