China is a big player in most markets; however, when it comes to technology, powerful local companies hold sway. Last year Google (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/google-inc/goog/nas" class="inlinked">GOOG</a>) fought a battle to keep its website in China. A couple of years ago, China set rules whereby all Internet content had to pass through censors before being approved.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/02/skype-could-face-charges-in-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Skype Could Face Charges in China</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/02/skype-could-face-charges-in-china/">Skype Could Face Charges in China</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 02 Jan 2011 16:00:00 EST. These include Windows 7 slates and also $35 Indian tablets. There's even buzz that Research In Motion (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/research-in-motion-limited/rimm/nas">RIMM</a>) will come out with the BlackPad.</p>
<p>So, to keep up its lead, Apple is working furiously to build supply as well as penetrate new markets. And yes, it looks like the company will <a href="http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/08/17/the-ipad-is-coming-to-china/">move into China</a>, perhaps as early as next month. To this end, China Unicom (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/china-unicom-hong-kong-limited/chu/nys">CHU</a>) will be the exclusive carrier for the iPad. This will also include the distribution of the highly popular iPhone 4.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/17/ipad-coming-to-china/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iPad's Next Stop? According to the latest quarterly report, the company saw a 14.2% increase in its customer base, which used up 2.9 trillion minutes of voice usage.<br /><br />The bottom-line was somewhat tepid as <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/china-mobile-user-base-hits-522-million-shares-up-2010-03-18?reflink=MW_news_stmp">earnings</a> increased 3.3% to $16.87 billion. <span style="font-style: italic;">TheStreet.com's Jim Cramer says if the company you're looking at is a player in the mobile Internet space, it's probably a good bet. </span><br /><br /> Does it have smartphone exposure, or doesn't it? That is the question. When I look at what's moving in tech and what's become sullen and gloomy, there's only one compass: smartphones. Think about what's moved this week: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cree-inc/cree/nas">Cree</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cree-inc/cree/nas">CREE</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=CREE">Cramer's Take</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/tellabs-inc/tlab/nas">Tellabs</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/tellabs-inc/tlab/nas">TLAB</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=TLAB">Cramer's Take</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/adc-telecommunications-inc/adct/nas">ADC Telecom</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/adc-telecommunications-inc/adct/nas">ADCT</a>) (<a target="blank" href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=ADCT">Cramer's Take</a>). These are terrific plays in the smartphone food chain and are included in the "Mad Money" Mobile Internet Index. <br /><br /> ADC Telecom is Chinese Internet infrastructure, and we know that China's spending $40 billion to build out infrastructure that can allow aggressive adoption of smartphones. Tellabs has been waiting for next-generation telecom orders -- smartphones. I think the fact that it announced a giant buyback -- it matters when the stock is this small -- is the signal needed to suggest they are getting orders. <p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/14/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-smartphone-smart-play/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cramer on BloggingStocks: Smartphone?
