Well, at least he won't wind up behind bars.

The former head of AIG Financial Products Group is expected to meet with attorneys from the U.S. Justice Department this week to learn that criminal charges will not be filed. The investigators didn't find any evidence that Cassano fibbed to his superiors, shareholders or outside auditors about the problems brewing in AIG FPG.
Continue reading AIG Financial Honcho to Dodge Indictment

AIG Financial Honcho to Dodge Indictment originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 09:40:00 EST.
The investigation of Bernie Madoff's fraudulent financial empire is leading to more arrests. Jerome O'Hara and George Perez, both computer programmers employed by the Ponzi schemer, were arrested by the FBI on Friday morning. The charges include conspiracy for falsifying books and records. They are accused of doing the deed for the boss and accepting hush money -- in the form of 25% raises and net bonuses of $60,000 -- to keep the scam afloat.

Continue reading Two more arrests in Madoff saga

Two more arrests in Madoff saga originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Fri, 13 Nov 2009 18:20:00 EST. F. Scott Yeager, a former Enron executive, got some good news from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, which ruled that it wouldn't revisit his case. So, he no longer has criminal charges related to financial fraud hanging over him. Yeager has been acquitted on all counts. This follows a June ruling by the Supreme Court, which tossed a previous 5th Circuit Court ruling that could have resulted in a new trial.

The ruling said, "Today, ... it is clear under our initial ... analysis the jury made a finding in acquitting Yeager that precludes prosecution on insider trading and money laundering." Samuel Buffone, who was one of Yeager's attorneys, stated that his client shouldn't have been indicted to begin with and didn't do anything wrong. It has taken them seven years to get to this point.

Yeager landed in hot water because he sold stock in Enron for more than $54 million before it began the plunge that would ultimately end with its bankruptcy in 2001. He faced 125 counts, was acquitted of five (four for wire fraud and one for conspiracy to commit wire and securities fraud) and wound up with a hung jury for the remaining 120, which included insider trading and money laundering. He was later indicted again on 13 counts of insider trading and money laundering.

Allen Stanford, accused Ponzi schemer, is about to get a new home. Following a fight at Joe Corley Detention Facility just north of Houston, Tex., a judge has ordered that he be moved to a facility in downtown Houston.

The order doesn't seem to be linked to the altercation that occurred last Thursday. Rather, it's to facilitate Stanford's meetings with his court-appointed attorney, Kent Schaffer.

Continue reading Stanford moved after cellblock smackdown

Stanford moved after cellblock smackdown originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Tue, 29 Sep 2009 12:20:00 EST. Upon firing, the shell, moving at approximately 300 feet per second, hits the target with same amount of juice the handheld X26 provides, but now at distance of up to 100 feet away.

Victims who so foolishly attempt to grab the projectile to pull it off will experience a wonderful sensation of what Taser called "overpowering Neuro Muscular Incapacitation" for 20 seconds. Ouch.

Despite being down 52 cents today, shares of TASER have doubled since April. Expectations for TASER to expand its product line in France have given shares a significant catalyst. Merriman Curhan Ford & Co believes investors should be more careful about choosing their entry point going forward, but still sees upside opportunities in the stock.

Field testing is expected to last 6-12 months before TASER comes out with a full production release. I, along with others who enjoy a good laugh, can not wait to see new footage of analysts who want to get shot by the new Taser product so they can fully understand the power of the non-lethal weapon.
TASER provides shocking new details of its new revolutionary shotgun originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 12 Jul 2007 16:05:00 EST.
