Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been successful for us as of late, but it appears that a pause may be around the corner.

One of the biggest mistakes investors can make is to project their own personal situation to the market or stocks in general. If times are tough the assumption is that times are tough everywhere and stocks will likely falter. All sorts of emotions including envy and jealousy can come out of the woodwork when things aren't going well personally.

Continue reading Market's Small Gain Signals a Pause?

Market's Small Gain Signals a Pause? originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Tue, 19 Oct 2010 11:40:00 EST. The Dow Jones dropped more than 200 points, but rebounded to finish the day a mere 23 points lower. The action could have given traders whiplash -- but it could also have given contrarians the chance to make a few well-timed investments and rake in some cash.

By definition, a contrarian investor makes investments based on the sentiment of the majority of investors. Yesterday set up a great contrarian bullish opportunity as experts and investors alike felt the sky was falling, pushing the Dow Jones Industrial Average to an intra-day nadir in the 9,800 region.
Continue reading Contrarian Investing and Large Drops, Profitable or Wreckless?

Contrarian Investing and Large Drops, Profitable or Wreckless? originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Wed, 26 May 2010 09:00:00 EST. A report from the World Bank showing lower recovery is expected in 2009 and in 2010 did not help. It took the sails out of the commodity sector and therefore out of stocks.

With little economic data to center on, traders just continued the momentum of selling to take profits. We are also seeing a reversal here where now the market needs great news to rally.

Here are today's closing bell levels:

Dow 8,339.01 -200.72 (-2.35%)
S&P 500 893.04 -28.19 (-3.06%)
Nasdaq 1,766.19 -61.28 (-3.35%)

Top 10 Analyst Calls
Continue reading Closing Bell: Can't run, and can't hide (AAPL, DIA, SPY, MRVL, MSFT, STP, SIRI, WMT, YHOO)

Closing Bell: Can't run, and can't hide (AAPL, DIA, SPY, MRVL, MSFT, STP, SIRI, WMT, YHOO) originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 16:00:00 EST.
